Fantastic assist from Maghoma

I came on here just to post the same comment.

Most players just hammer that ball into Row Z, but to have the touch and awareness to take the ball in his stride and pick out Parrott is on another level.

Good performance from the lads, the whole team was very solid

Paris Maghoma is a exciting player, his assist was fantastic, shows that he has the vision

The triangle of Eyoma, White, and Bowden, were all fantastic. Defensively repelled everything Barca threw at us, while giving us a very good platform to start our attacks from. Great display from the kids.

So he is technically so good he’s better then Winks, Dele or Eriksen? Your having a laugh.

If Josh is so technically adept what is holding him back? Personality, intelligence, aggression, drive? What’s lacking?

I don't know why every first team player has to be better at every facet of football than any non-first team football. I don't know why it sounds so ridiculous. If I said Edwards was a better dribbler than Dier would people honestly disagree? Onomah has always been technically better than Winks, to answer your question clearly other facets of his game mean he isn't suitable for Poch to bring through, whereas if he were elsewhere those issues may have been looked over and worked on. Drive, style, awareness and aggression are probably all factors that have affected his chances of becoming a first team football. I'd argue Winks has all those qualities which means he is ideal for Poch, it doesn't therefore make him more skilful or have a higher potential.

Additionally my opinion on players doesn't necessarily change season on season I am aware players have different skills and opportunities to show their ability and those that get those will jump of other players in the minds of fans. Sessegnon is a perfect example, as is someone like Lukaku when compared to Kane. Lot's of players get chances earlier then become' the best player in their age group, while people who have watched comparable players for longer will be aware of the ability and potential of the player not given a chance, and know that should that opportunity come they would likely leapfrog the player again.

Whenever he got minutes at Spurs, albeit in not his natural position, he never looked settled the way Winks did. He looked nervous, the ball was always getting stuck under his feet, and he often would make poor decisions. I don't blame him for being full of nerves. But I think that's the crucial difference. Winks looks fearless, and has a toughness to him, which he needed to get over the injury hell he went through. Josh just seems a little softer.

Could be a mentality thing, BUT I think you answered your own question. Who will feel comfortable in a completely alien position for 5mins at a time. Reiss Nelson wasn't pulling up any trees at fullback for Arsenal in the EL or when he got chances and he was getting a lot more minutes than Onomah was getting (I think). Arsenal fans say he wasn't ready. Hoffenheim give him the no.9 shirt, show him some faith and provide opportunities now look at him, and now he is ready. But he was the same player at the start of the season as he is now, he didn't suddenly become good enough to tear up the Bundesliga. Not everyone is adaptable and able to play a many positions. Maitland-Niles who started out as a winger can play all round the park, Nelson is more suited to a winger/10 role. Expecting the same outcome for two completely different players is foolish take them all on their own merits. Loads on this forum didn't want Onomah to go on loan as he's suited to a specific style of football it was obvious and a specific position. The fact that he isn't adaptable no doubt works against him, but if you have a talented player in a specific position to you try and work on them more, or not go with the risk. We went with the latter fair enough, but it's why I believe he would have done well to get out of the club earlier and go abroad when loads of clubs were after him.

I think we all understand your point of view with this one mate. But this goes just as easily the other way. Pochettino seems to keep kids involved but barely playing (Foyth didn't play in the PL once last season), then all of a sudden something clicks and they're thrown in to play a long run of games in a pressure scenario. Mason, Foyth, Winks all went through this process. Pochettino didn't have to start Foyth or Mason in their respective games at the Emirates; once you've gained his trust, he'll truly trust you in any scenario. Hopefully a good performance tonight is that moment for KWP; I honestly don't think it's anywhere near as far away or as unlikely as you believe.

Maybe. We will have to see. WIn/win tonight for Poch anyway, but as you say let's wait and see.

Really good win in the UYL great result to go to Barca and bring back 3 points didn't get to watch much at all but from the brief 10/15mins or so, TOB looked quite lively. Hopefully he starts to find himself as he is the best CM we have. He needs to dig deep and really start to show it otherwise time will start passing him by

IMO it was fortuitous assist, looked like Roles was going to shoot and it deflected off the barca players heel.
Whilst I agree, you make your own luck - and Roles seems to be someone who makes things happen

That may be the case but did you also notice he played as a left winger again which is clearly not his position , but still manages to influence the game . How many players can do that ? Take all this stuff I’m reading about onomah , he’s not playing well as he’s not being played in his position , Roles I believe has played in multiple positions but still manages either to assist or score or effect a game . Does that not tell you something .
Well done to all the lads today !

I've found it interesting watching Roles on the left as it exposes a weakness that maybe gets obscured when he plays centrally, which is his untidy feet when dribbling. Still love him though.
