There is just so much football in Edwards. If this boy dosent end up an absolute star, I would be extremely surprised. Lets hope we play this right

I keep saying he has improved this area of his game, but it just gets ignored (not me saying it but acknowledgement that it has improved). Everyone just assumes that as he isn't playing first team, he must be lazy and not working hard or too small. He isn't Lamela but he is working on a part of his game which is completely unnatural to him. He is so ready to be playing first team.

It's ridiculous how Pulisic has taken a completely different path to him despite being at the same stage 2 years ago and Edwards being the biggest talent. Pulisic made a great decision joining a club that takes talented but inexperienced players and turning them into quality, in a league that promotes youth. Would be interesting to see where Edwards would be if he joined them.

I'm super impressed with Edwards whenever I have seen him, but I do think it's unfair to compare him with Pulisic.

Pulisic is absolutely rapid which has allowed him to make the step up quickly, similar to Sterling and Lennon when he was initially with us. Rightly or wrongly it does seem managers tend to have more bravery in throwing that type of player in earlier. Thick is not a knock on Poch either.

Love to know how fast edwards is.To me he looks quite fast. But I think small players are deceptive ,because their gate is quicker makes them look faster. Was looking at the getty images of Kane, and he really looks a unit now compared to when 18.Obviously just natural filling out.But most of our players look really pumped.I guess the gym facility is so good, many must do extra work.I think Edwards game will really come on as he adds more strength,he has that bustling style that will suit more muscle.

I think once players hit a certain level i.e. I believe they will be good PL players to potentially WC, it's hard to rank them. In my eye there are so many variables even just based on position. Attacking players will always catch eyes more. Though Edwards is absolute quality

Yep, there's so many variables and everyone develops at a different pace. The prospect at 16/17 might fade, whilst another kid might make it from relative obscurity. All you can do is call what you like in a player and what they could potentially add at senior level and if you think they have shown enough to be considered for opportunities.

What I meant though was the tendency for, let's call them the very casual youth team watchers, to want a pecking order. It's probably worse elsewhere rather than SC per se, but I see a lot of comments like 'Is TOB better than Onomah, tell me!' and the like aimed at the more clued up youth watchers such as yourself.

Call me crazy but if something happened to eriksen injury wise then I could see Edwards coming in. The kid's creativity and set piece delivery are excellent and he has clearly worked on his core.

Yeh, I call you crazy. Totally different ball-game with the big boys.

Pulisic isnt exactly rapid. He has pace, yes, but he is definitely not rapid. He gets around opposition players because he is absolute quality on the ball.

I actually believe Marcus & TOB are of the same ilk.
You mean Marcus and Pulisic? From the little i've seen of Edwards, i'd agree that he is similar to Pulisic. Not the quickest but great on the ball. But, isnt TOB more of a CM?

He's not really a Eriksen type though. He dribbles far more for one and I'd say he shades more towards creating his own chances than those for others whereas Eriksen is far more weighted towards creating for others. I see Edwards as a somewhat right sided Coutinho type.

I won't profess to know exactly when he was fit but there were times he was featuring for the u23s and or England in the 2nd half of the season where he could have made the bench if we wanted to try him out. But I agree he was very unfortunate with the timing of his injury. Regardless from what we have seen so far there is nothing to suggest he would have got any significant minutes anyway, so I don't really think he missed out on much.
IIRC after his injury, weren't there rumors around that his contract situation was affecting his first team prospects?

Now that he's committed I would hope we'd see him more, but he's not even training with the first team atm apparently. Unless, of course, there is some truth to that ITK from another site that said we want to be shot of him because of his attitude. That's the only reason why I could see him being kept out of the first team this season.

TOB can play the wide role very well.

He can but not like Edwards. TOB plays the wide role similar to how Dembele does. Just depends on what you want from your winger/AM. I think Edwards though is a lot better, in that area as he is at no.10.

I wouldn't be upset or shocked to ever see TOB out there for the first team though, just not traditonal wing play

That's it, completely forgot about the contract scenario. Wasted half of a season for him, think we should have just played him but I somewhat understand our position on it.

Funnily enough though when Man City were preventing Sancho from playing when he didn't sign a contract, City were criticised for trying to ruin a 17 year olds career and mistreating him. But when we didn't take Edwards on tour or give him time unless he signed it was OK
