Don't understand Poch's obsession with Georgiou over Bennetts. If Bennetts was as involved as Georgiou has been he'd definitely be more enticed to stay.

Good for Bennetts, I know people like seeing youth team players make it and he was a talented kid, but he wasn't some kind of super talent that would improve us dramatically any time soon. Its part of youth football players leave, happened to Ferguson's man utd all the time.

On Azzaoui, you can argue he made the right choice, in the sense he is playing on loan at a piss poor division for a not a very good team in that said division. But he certainly has not shown any reason that Spurs would miss him.

Despite a burst of eye catching pace, Bennets looked a pretty ordinary to me in the handful of youth games I watched this year. I'd be surprised if he amounts to much at the top level.

He's another player that will be worth multiple millions one day, so even if you don't think he'll be first team material, we could have at least built his value up with strategic first team involvement and loans IMO.

Poch has made a right mess of the academy since he came in
Been great for the first team but near on destroyed the rest of the club further down with the way hes managed the younger players. included the wrong youngsters which had left the better ones thinking whats going on here and is becoming clear when we losing them. He will need to be spending 150m when hes lost all our YA.

I did mention the concerns amongst the academy a few months back. Poch is very aware, but told it is a balancing act. Told only the very elite stand a chance.

It doesn’t help that we are shit at loaning our players under Poch. We’ve been moaning about it on here since he’s been here.

I don't blame any of them, and it's good to see English kids wising up to the system here and how clubs do things, starting to escape, and finding better pathways and opportunities to try and make the most of their careers. Why sit in reserve team limbo for two, three, four seasons, with the odd random loan, and know that even if you are doing well then the odds are very much against you even getting a chance as clubs have their annual arms race and try to outspend each other? I wouldn't.

It should be great for the England team but we should definitely sort out our loan system now unless we're sticking buy back clauses in people's contracts etc.

Lots of youngsters show promise but very few make it at the top level. KWP is on the cusp, Winks was a breath of fresh air pre injury and Kane is the dogs bollocks. Albeit not our own youth, we’ve signed several young players whom are flourishing (Sanchez, Alli). 3 homegrown, 2 signings... no one can deny we give the cream of the crop a chance.

Absolutely. And let's not forget that Onomah was preferred to Winks for a long time too.

Personally I don't think sorting out loans are the answer. Even players who go out and do well on loan are more than likely just coming back to exactly the same situation. For me the best option for someone would always be to have a permanent contract somewhere where they see development opportunities. In future I can only see more (elite level) academy kids going abroad or domestically dropping down a level or two, they're definitely wising up to clubs parking them in the reserves for years on end with no pathways.

The only thing we can say is it hasn’t come back to bite us yet. How long that remains the case is another matter. Did say a while ago with the general increase in squad quality some harsh decisions were likely at youth level. Just wonder how many of those leaving the club are ok with. Be amazed if Edwards survives this cull.

I think we should try and get a link up established with a Bundesliga club. The German clubs are good at bringing young players through with good technique.

Lookman on loan from Everton has done quite well, Jadon Sancho too (I thought we were going to get him after a year in Germany, wonder what happened there @Trix @Hercules?). Going back further Owen Hargreaves.

Otherwise what about trying to send some of the youngsters to Ajax and develop our links there too...

So many of our youngsters go to the Championship and don’t seem to get a game where it is more about pace and power than technique and arguably the clubs don’t have the patience because they are all trying to get the promised land.

Can we not just put an agreed buy back price in the contract in the future or have first refusal. Would be better from our point of view.

I am naive to the youth setup so I take your word for it. I have maybe watched 360 total minutes of youth soccer in the last two years being an Yank.

But the highlights I see show me a physical specimen with a knack for scoring goals and a technically proficient player scoring goals.

Again, 360 live minutes and a bunch of highlights, but I see the Reo comparisons of Lukaku. I haven’t seen much of Troy, but he seems a more mobile Kane, but a real magic about him. Comparison is the theif of joy, but he has this air about him...a little Zlatanish
I actually wrote a post about how I thought Parrott reminded me of Zlatan.

I’m sure Griffiths is playing games , look how he advertised the Germany tournament to make everyone think he was leaving . He will of course be in a different changing room as an u23 next season thus being why he’s quote on his social media says it’s his last few days in this changing room . I think Our Reo likes to play games
I do agree, he seems to very much like the attention, however as he also named Hinds and Mukendi, I'm inclined to believe him, unless he was being really calculated but how many average fans are going to know who Mukendi is, let alone his instagram, and similar with Hinds, so why tag them in it.

azzaoui did his acl soon after leaving to be fair so he effectively lost a year.

disappointed with this news from a spurs pov but when you watch these kids come up through the age groups it's hard not to see it more from their perspective and what's best for them, rather than just looking at it as a fan. what i don't get from that article though is that it says we have an option to extend his deal by a year but we're happy to let him move on? surely we wouldn't do ourselves out of a potentially decent fee.

i wonder if bennetts was the player @IGSpur was referring to in one of his recent posts.

Na it wasn't Bennetts it was one of our u14s. Though the Bennetts thing has been brewing for a while, I assumed it wasn't going to happen in the end.

No idea mate it wasn't something I had heard.
