I see nothing wrong with Edwards determination and mentality he comes across a confidant Lad.
The problem with Edwards is a team has to be setup right for him.

He does not have what Alli has in term of his physicality or size so that limits what you can do with him.
You cannot play him in any wide role because it plays to his weaknesses.

What he can do well is play just behind a main striker with a fee role because he is dangerous in and around opponents box and he will setup a lot of goals.

He would do well as a sub at the moment as a impact player or if we was winning comfortably then bring him on.
I am looking forward to the day when we see Kane,Alli and Edwards in the same team.

In terms of his Confidence would love to see a bit of that rub off on Onomah.

i saw the academy account reply to someone asking whether edwards should be starting for the u19s and his reply was that it'd be hard to argue that he's in better form than chelsea's mason mount. for a start that kind of goes without saying seeing as marcus rarely plays games at any level these dues due to being with the 1st team and also having been injured but even then he's managed five goals and five assists in 12 appearances(891 mins) this season across spurs and england youth games, mount by comparison has six goals and three assists in 27 appearances(2220 mins). so marcus has a better return despite playing about 40% of the minutes mount has, of course the game isn't just about goals and assists but they play more or less the same role and ultimately they're both tasked with making things happen in the final third.

another thing is i just saw the goals from the u19 game and spain [predictably] looked like a team of tiny tots and although i didn't see the game i wouldn't be surprised if it was a familiar case of an england youth side overawing their opponents physically rather than technically. i'm not at all saying mount(and others in the side) aren't solid technically but imo marcus is on another level to any of them, perhaps with the exception of dasilva.

however disappointing it is though that he's seemingly lost his england place, very little should be read into it. i've seen a few stupid comments elsewhere saying things like "oh look, the next messi can't even get off the bench for england" but then you can go back through the '96 england borns for example and it was always a midfield of lotus-cheek, baker and one of alli/winks ... and now look where they all are.

Whiteman and Edwards started for England U19s today:

''It should be 2-0 already. Great skill by Artem Korzun to nutmeg his man but Spurs keeper Alfie Whiteman makes a crucial save, diving to his right.''

''Fantastic skill by Spurs midfielder Marcus Edwards. He looks all left foot but he beats three players in teh box before getting a right foot shot away. It's saved well but he'd have liked to get more on the shot. 1-1 after 23 minutes.''

''#THFC midfielder Marcus Edwards looks a real player. Having a good game for England U19s. Updates here.

England have just gone 3-1 up through Marcus Edwards after the Spurs midfielder clipped a right foot shot over the keeper 11 minutes after the break.

Jizzing my pants over Edwards potential. Has there ever been more hype for a youngster at Spurs in recent years.

sounds like shashoua had a good game for the u18s and got a couple of assists -
England worked the ball well out to the right flank and to highly rated Tottenham youngster Samuel Shashoua, who floated a perfect cross to the back post, where Nketiah was waiting to head in off the upright.

They continued to press, with Shashoua at the heart of the action. After switching from right to left flank midway through the half, he beat his man and squared, only for Hirst to be denied by a fantastic last-ditch tackle.

Unfortunately for the Qatar keeper the ball ran straight to the feet of Shashoua, who calmly clipped the ball into the path of England’s star man to complete his hat-trick – and effectively end the contest – with the simplest of tap-ins.

We've had quite a few hyped youngsters over the years tbf, but i'll be honest i'm excited by Edwards as he's not the type of player that England usually produces, small, not lightning quick or particularly strong (yet) but has the technical ability that wouldn't make him look out of place at La Masia. Not going to happen but would love to see him given a few minutes of the bench in one of the attacking midfield positions in our current system.

I agree, I'm not one to hype young players and i dont get carried away even when a player impresses me at youth level but I must say this the boy is really special, I would be surprised if he doesn't go to the top with his talent

For a 19-year old, you have a remarkable knowledge of youth players.

I don't want to brag but I would like to think that my footballing knowledge is top notch especially my ability to know how good a player is. Youth players are a funny one, they all develop at different rates, mentally, physically, tactically, technically etc. My opinion is it would be harder for Marcus to not reach his amazing potential than to reach it, his got too much ability but thats just my opinion.

I think you've misunderstood, I haven't played FIFA and FM in 5/6 years, my opinion is based on watching him play

I can tell, it must take years of watching football matches and to reach expert level to see that Marcus Edwards has a good chance of being a good footballer.

Truly groundbreaking perspective.

I said he will reach the top not just become a good footballer
