We have no pace on the counter attack either. We have some pretty obvious deficiencies, and have had most of them for well over a season. We need a proper winger like Sane or Sterling because son and Lucas seem to prefer running through the channels than sticking out wide. 2 CMs, 1 Winger, 1 ST, 1 CB, 1 RB, 1 LB, 1 GK, maybe 1 AM

Anyone apart from these are sellable or could be sold/released

Kane
Dele
Jan
Lloris
Winks
Sissoko
Foyth
Sanchez
Son
Lucas

It's a sad state of affairs, I suppose at least there's something to work with there.

Those weren't rumours, those were players that people were suggesting.
"
I am talking about posts on the front page of SC where links from dubious sites where posted, and those were links to sites the "mere mortal" members get reprimanded for and/or banned if they post from the same "shithouse" sites

With limited transfer funds and quite a number of positions to be upgraded, I’d rather not use any of those funds on Zaha (if the transfer fee is any where what has been reported).

That quote was from ~4hrs before the game and I replied with this 30 minutes BEFORE the game:

First off, some of us are measured in our comments so the crow isn't always served. I had my say about Dele from 2 years ago and took pelters for it. Haven't seen anything in the intervening time to make me modify my opinion. Went today to repost it becasue of it's accuracy and the salient nature of today's events.

And it wasn't a 'positive view' it was a delusional view, a RAWKish view from a poster that I have a lot of time for. We have disagreed on this topic for some time but I still respect his perspective. It was a pisstake because within 4 hours this board saw in this 'WC player' what I see in him every game no matter how many goals he scores. It was not ridicule of SF77, as I said I appreciate his posts, as much as it was a callback to something that didn't age very well and that I had addressed before the game.

So, as far as you policing efforts go, have a donut and relax.

I wasn’t offended by it at all. My comment was probably just a little bit over the top. He definitely made it look stupid yesterday anyway!

Would love to get Jota, can't see Wolves selling but he is class, only 22 and is what we need to play alongside Harry.
Both our FB's need upgrading as a matter of urgency, LB and RB.

This is totally knee jerk I fully admit but fuck it I’d sell

Trippier
Rose
Aurier
Wanyama
Llorente
Janssen
GKN
Lamela (to many injuries)
Alderweireld ( time to trust Sanchez and Foyth plus we in need of a LCB)

That’s 9 players.

I’d keep Rose.

Either way, we’re never shifting that many for reasons only the Dude can explain

anyone else worried that leaving it so long to replace has caused us to replace in greater numbers which mean more levy-to-chairman situations........

No Winks, Sissoko or Dembele has left our midfield bereft of any creativity or dynamism. Our display v West Ham yesterday was turgid at best. We absolutely have to bring in somebody who can dictate the tempo, do the dirty stuff and pick incisive passes. Having to drop Eriksen deep and Alli to a lesser extent has robbed us of any cutting edge further forward. I don't expect us to sign NDombele but IMO he'd make a huge difference. I'd expect us to go cheaper (Diawara and Berge would do for me).

Perhaps when dembele was sold in January which was the right decision by the way we should of instead had a replacement brought in rather than just keep trying to save on wages and muddle through.

Totally agree we are playing catch up yet again because we now need more numbers rather than the 3/4 that should have came in during the summer ridiculous decision making

Said it months ago that we've sacrificed 'evolution' and organic growth and as a result we now need 'revolution' which is much more of a roll of the dice. Trying to bed in a minimum of 3 or 4 players is going to take time. We have to at least get some deals done that allow incoming players a proper pre season (but I don't really have much hope of that).

Again agree especially as our chairman likes to stall and haggle over every deal he must be shutting himself at the prices out there now but that is the reality facing him, I don't think I'm looking forward to this summer but should be a laugh to see what we end up with my guess is 2/3 in plus a host of excuses.

Bringing in 1 or 2 late in the window, whilst not being able to shift the shit we have is more than likely to be the process as before. It doesnt help to think about what could/should have happened because you'll just get angry.

Wouldn't be so bad if we had any genuine trust in our scouts.

Well its not ridiculous decision making so far, we are one game away from the champions league final and 3rd in the league.
A signing or two may have helped, or maybe not, all I know is we are one game away from a champions league final and are 3rd....

I hope we continue to make ridiculous decisions in the future.

That hardly ever happens, as you say.

We clearly can’t manage another unsuccessful window and the need to integrate new signings has to be a priority.

I’m not convinced we’ll change our methodology, which is a shame when we consider that Liverpool finished last season on 75 points and now they’re on 91. That’s what a couple of decisive windows do for you, especially when you have the right personnel in place, which both Liverpool and us have in Klopp and Poch

We're also a couple of games away from nothing in the CL and a place in the Europa League with a squad that are out on their feet. Reinforcements would have been a massive help.

Yes and no. You’re absolutely right about how well we’ve done this season.

But you can only stretch an elastic band so far before it snaps. It was a risky decision to not buy anyone, and we may well be ok this time. But equally, we’re also four games away from not winning the CL and not qualifying for it next season, and that may well come down to a threadbare squad that would have benefited from a couple of decent signings.

Either way, there is a clear need to invest this summer with at leat Wanyama and Lamela looking more and more busted. I don’t think we should ever be in a situation either where we have to rely on Llorente and Janssen at the same time to win a Premier League game
