That’s probably more opinion to be fair. Poch didn’t rate him in January but only really had his stint at Monaco to form an opinion.

Tielemans is now Prem proven and a completely different proposition. He’s been really really impressive.
A player is not "Premier League proven" in 8 weeks.

I can he's a total bellend, it's one thing for people to support Arsenal growing up (Sissoko, Aurier) but it's another to be completely insulting the club and then joining us.
Eh?

He was 15.

Some of the shit I used to say at that age. Fuck me.

I'm Well over that. Welcome Madders.

Nah fuck that, he might have been 15 but there's millions of footballers out there, I don't want him, every story I've heard about him, he sounds like a complete ****.

We should tease him with it. Show him the ground, the training centre, get the Poch pose ready and then bring up the tweets

Arguably our and his best football under Poch was when he lined up as the RCB in a 3 with Toby and Jan when we played 3-4-3. And then as @am_yisrael_chai said he had that ability to step into midfield to roam and destroy when we switched to 4-2-3-1. That gave us incredible dynamism and flexibility tactically during that period. I think the problem is though that our tactics have moved on from that more than an issue with Dier himself. We still use the 3-back but with Sanchez and Foyth arriving he isn't required at centre-half anymore. And now that we're using a diamond midfield I don't think that plays to his strengths. He hasn't get the ability to dictate tempo like Winks from the deeper role and he doesn't have the athleticism like Sissoko to play as one of the wider centre mids. With Toby's departure seemingly inevitable at this stage however I wouldn't be against dropping him back in rather than going big for a direct replacement. Rather have a young leftie brought in to eventually replace Jan as he winds down over the next couple years.
The diamond midfield doesn’t work, we need to go back to what was working.

Well I would take hime over Eric the plod Dier any day. Yes there are better players than gomes out there but good player for the amount he would cost. Keeps possession very well.

Keeps possesion well, can take the ball and dribble, great long passing, great passing forward, he gets involved in the defensive aspect, he's had a great performance.

I keep saying it & I'm not gonna stop. If people insist on mentioning Leicester/Maddison, they are suggesting the wrong player & should be saying Barnes.

Outside of Leicester, Fraser would be another option.
Maddison and Barnes/Fraser are completely different players tho

I wasn't impressed by Barnes when we played them if I'm honest but that's literally all I've seen from him.

Maddison I have always compared to Gylfi Sigurdsson. Lovely technique and striker of a football, will score plenty of lovely goals and get assists, will undoubtedly have a good PL career, maybe even an international one... But he's a bit of a luxury, workrate isn't the best, physically can be a bit of a plodder, and isn't someone who can control or run a game for his team. Maybe someone will take a chance, but I'm not convinced he's a player who will make the step up to one of the top teams.

Reminds me of a modern day David Bentley

What position would Gomes play for us if we signed him?
The dier or Dembele role?

There are so many variables at the moment;

Who wants to go?
- Toby?
- Eriksen?
We need to deal with this first and replace with high quality

Who could we let go and find a buyer for?
- Aurier?
- Trips?
- Davies?
- Wanyama?
- Lamela?
- Llorente?

Who could we bring in to strengthen our first 11?

I'd look in the PL first;
- Wan-Bissaka in for both Trips & Aurier
- Zaha in for Lamela and Llorente
- Chilwell in for Davies

CM I'm not sure who in the PL can dominate play and athletic so perhaps we look overseas.

Would would significantly improve us / the dream?

- Bale (for the romance alone...he is surely leaving this summer?)

All things considered, it's more about the clearout to free up cash and squad places. I can see why the last 2 windows were pretty tough, but we seem in a solid position to have a strong window this time around!
