This is about as close as Poch has come to an ultimatum - big, big summer ahead.
But last summer I was really happy with our canny business in the transfer market and argued to anyone who would listen that Poch very clearly intended the idea of 'being brave' to be all about not spending any money and having the bravery to compete our rivals as they invested to improve their squads whilst we were allowing ours to be weakened? Surely I can't have been wrong?! :nailbiting:

Can understand where Poch is coming from but I don't like it.
It can only be unsettling for the squad at such an important stage of the season.
He should be saying this directly to Daniel and the board, not the worlds press.
I disagree. I think he's absolutely correct to be reassuring the fans that he wants the club to invest in its playing staff in a manner commensurate with the rhetoric of a club that is happy to charge some of the highest ticket prices in world football just as much as they do.

Yeah, I get what you're saying but it always worries me when a manager comes out with something that could set him against the owners.
As I said, I get where he's coming from and I'm hoping Levy will step up for him, he deserves the backing.
I just don't want to lose him and for everything to go tits up now, just when we're so fucking close.

I have a bad gut feeling that it is all starting to unravel. Toby and Eriksen are almost certainly gone. If big moves aren't made based on Poch's comments today, he is gone. If Poch is gone, Kane, Dele, Son are likely gone soon after. And the 3-4 year amazing run we had is officially done. I really, really, really hope I am wrong and Levy steps up. But we all sort of said the same thing last summer - that he can't possibly not give Poch what he wants, and well, he didn't.

Yeah, it's certainly all on a knife edge right now for us, and we look like we're either facing some serious regression or - if, and only if, Levy changes the habit of a lifetime and makes some bold investments in the playing staff which by necessity aren't as safe a financial bet as his comfort zone of bricks-and-mortar investment - potentially setting ourselves up for a fun and successful future. Not really much middle ground in between the two, as I see it.

I totally get your fears that it may all go wrong (and I share them myself), but this summer will bring a welcome clarity IMO - the long game will finally be over and we'll know for sure if ENIC were ever serious about trying to win things with us or whether we were just an investment vehicle for them where sporting success was always a 'nice if it happens, don't care if it doesn't' jobby. If it's the latter, then I think we as fans will all be able to tailor our spending on the club accordingly, and stop spending our hard-earned on owners who don't share the same aims as the fans.

I hope Levy steps up to the plate. We'll see for sure this summer, one way or the other.

I think we can all take some comfort in that the idea of us selling Kane, Dele and Son over the course of a couple of years will be nigh on impossible. We’re talking about 3 potential world record transfers (or thereabouts) with those guys- It’s not exactly going to be a fire sale.

With the stadium and the training centre, we are structurally far more well equipped to deal with setbacks. If we lose our best players we will be compensated well enough financially to reinvest.

This era seems to be coming to an end of sorts, and it’s sad we might step back for a season or two, but generally speaking I think we are here to stay now.

I think one of the main reasons I would be so sad to lose Poch is because I really like him as a person, and for what he’s done for the club. But there will be others.

Asked whether this would be a big summer, Pochettino said: “It’s going to be massive.”
The biggest? “Yes.”

...and I'm back in.

I wouldn't worry about the future mate. At the moment as it stands over at Chelsea Hazards probably going to leave, they have a transfer ban and Hudson-Odoi doesn't want to sign & at Man U Pogba is making noises, Herrera & Mata are probably leaving on free transfers & De Gea looks like he might go. It's all hear say until it happens I wouodnt worry about it unless it happens.

Toby seems to be making the right noises about staying.

Eriksen I think is probably leaving, and in honesty, I’m not that bothered. His season has been mediocre at best, and while I think he’s a great player to have around the club, if we can get £75M+ for him then we should take it.

Eriksen isn’t irreplaceable. Nor is Toby. Nor, in fairness, is anyone except Harry Kane.

May I remind you that we lost Luka Modric, Dimitar Berbatov and Gareth Bale - all arguably more important players than Eriksen - and lived to tell the tale. If he wants out then cash in and get the money spent wisely and quickly.

After losing all Berbatov and Bale we had horrible starts to the next season, least we forget...

Buy players to win the league next season, not to play Champions league. City and Liverpool are the benchmark, that's what we need to be emulating. Let's not forget that some teams in the big 6 have had shocking seasons one year only to go and win it the next due to a lack of European football. If they can do it then we should bloody well believe that we can too. If we don't want to play Europa then play the kids in that and go out (not necessarily for this but poch doesn't seem to be a huge fan of that competition)

Chukwueze looks a hell of a talent. The 19 year old winger scored and got an assist against Barca tonight, and gave Marcelo the run around not too long ago.

He supposedly models himself on Robben, and they do share similarities in terms of speed, skill and directness, as well as a reliance on the left foot (although he did score with his right foot tonight).

He’a contributed 10 goals (7 goals & 3 assists) in 29 apps this season, not bad for a young player in their first top-level season, and one playing for a struggling side.

Has a reported €40m buy out clause.

With player sales probably being around £100m (Toby £25m, Eriksen £50m, Wanyama £5m, Janssen £5m, Aurier £15m) I reckon if the club give us £50m on top of that, with shrewd investments it'll be a good return.

I honestly can't see the club going nuts and giving us more than £150m to spend, even if £100m of that is made up of money due to player sales

Imo signing big marquee names is NOT what would be best for the club. We've got a great feel throughout the squad and Poch is the matter of getting players to raise their level.

There's a load of top quality HG players out there that we could go for.

We need a RB, LB, CB, 2 x CM, Winger and back up for Kane.

Ben Chilwell or Kieran Tierney
Aaron Wan Bissaka
Nathan Ake
Ryan Sessegnon
Phil Billing
Jack Grealish
NDombele or Tielemans
Rabiot
Mitrovic

I know that's a lot of players, but some, like Billing and Sessegnon won't be first team most of the time.

We also are likely to move on / lose

Trippier or Aurier
Rose
Alderweireld
Nkoudou
Possibly Wanyama
Janssen
Possibly Llorente
Probably Eriksen

And have lost Dembele, so we need numbers in.

Anyone seen much of Norwich this season? From the little I’ve seen Aarons and Lewis look like very good prospects and HG too. Along with Lloyd Kelly they could be good backup targets if we don’t get the top tier fullbacks like Ferland Mandy and AWB
