You are able to attract better players if you have guaranteed champions league is what i meant.
Whether or not we decide to pay the sufficient is a different conversation.
Thank you for all your contributions lately, really livens the place up when there’s no football for so long.

Hopefully Chelsea’s ban, and City’s likely ban too now, gives us fewer hurdles to overcome as they’re obviously two of the three clubs who skew the UK market most regarding salaries, Utd being the third.

I'm not sure about James. Think he's over rated and I'm not sure he has the right attitude.
Don't want him just because he comes from Real, and therefore must be good enough for us.

I like him, good direct player with exceptional skill. Only six months older than Eriksen too, and full of flair. He’d give our attack an unpredictable element that it just lacks at the moment.

Papers saying Real looking to offload James and Kovacic this summer to raise funds for their transfer targets. Rumoured price to be €50m.

In the grand scheme of things, those are not ridiculous figures. We paid that for Sanchez pretty much, both James and Kovacic would improve us dramatically, addressing an area of loss in Eriksen.

Both players are proven winners, and we will not win shit by buying 18 year olds from the championship, it’s all about balance. Those two, mixed with a new CB (Anderson??) a new full back, potentially another young midfielder and a new wide forward/striker, I genuinely think we are contenders?

I'd take both of them. It's true that they've both been a bit patchy which has led a lot of people to say they are overrated, but I think Poch would certainly improve them and give them opportunities to flourish. They are both outstanding players on their day and IMO we would do better out of an Eriksen deal by including players rather than having the cash. We could get 2 quality players in on day 1 of the window which is crucial if we're losing Eriksen.

James was definitely over rated post 2014 WC and is a known party boy

He would still massively improve our team and squad though

Ill be honest with you - reading the twiter takes me from the highest mountain right down to underwhelming come down.

That is an underwhelming list lets be honest particularly where we will be getting rid or rather two players of Tobys and Eriksens class are leaving.

None of these players listed would make a difference at our rivals nor massively improve us IMO. Obviously a couple like Grealish have LT potential but especially with close to world class talent going out this makes for a depressing list

Our squad would be materially weaker

Eriksen in particular needs a special replacement IMO

Question about potential LB. Does anyone know much about the young lad, Tierney, at Celtic? Arseanal have been linked with him for a while, and now Leicester are linked with him because they're expecting bids for Chilwell this summer.

Just wondering if Tierney could be a potential option?

I think we should or should’ve already gone for him. Whenever I see him I essentially think “this is what Ben Davies would be like if he was rapid.” Got a cracking left foot on him too.

He’s going to be expensive for a Scottish player, probably at least £25m, but we need to be committing for these sorts of players before they’re proven. 1 good season in the prem and he’s £50m and out of sight.

I don’t ever want us to sign a full-back again who isn’t lightning quick and full of energy. It’s absolutely crucial to the way we play and it’s frankly just horrendous planning that out of the 5 full-backs we have only Rose could be described as particularly quick, and even he is on the decline.

No one knows who we will aim for and any names put forward as targets is totally guess work as it does not make sense to release the names of your targets or the names of who you want to get out the door as values would be affected in both cases.
If you let it known who you are after than the price goes up and alerts other suitors and if you let it be known you want rid of a player the price to sell will go down I think this is logical.

I'm sure Poch would be happy with buying Mitrovic after not signing any players for two windows because he didn't want to bring players just for the sake of it.

He looks perfect for us to be honest. Not cheap but gettable and now semi-proven in the EPL. Would be pretty shocked if we weren’t sniffing around.
5 games against us, Crystal Palace, Watford, Fulham and Brighton makes you semi-proven in the premier league now a days?

It's like how we thought we could just replace Walker. Now Toby and Eriksen. Those are some of the best players in the world at their positions and are so hard to replace. Look at replacing Bale... Eriksen was basically all we got out of that. And with the clubs recent transfer activity it's hard to be optimistic on how it will turn out. I think most would agree we haven't had a great summer window since 15/16.

It feels like we're starting over a bit after not adding the right pieces for the final push with what felt like a "golden generation" for Spurs.

This is what we're doing, and what I believe needs to be done. We missed our window of opportunity with this set of players due to a mix of bad luck, incompetence and negligence. There's too many weaknesses that this current squad needs to address to be considered challengers, so it's about that time that we start thinking about the future again IMO.

Paraguayan midfielder Julio Cesar Torres is joining Tottenham Hotspur, according to his agent and the Bolivian media.

Both the player and his representative have attended TV show La Revista El Día, from Bolivisión, this week and talked about the details of the transfer.

This all may sound like a done deal at first, with the 21-year-old joining the Tottenham squad for next season. But little by little, you realise how strange this story is.

First is the way the Spurs move is being announced. It was the TV who said it’s happening, and asked Gonzalo Acier to explain every detail of it. The representative said ‘his work is to seek pre-agreements, a better club’, and claimed the offer ‘was received 15 days ago’.

Torres himself claimed “it would be a pride to go there (Tottenham) and show the quality and what I’m going for”.

But explaining the transfer, the agent has mixed a pre-agreement with a loan and a release clause. That’s something that any football addict, let it be a fan or an official, would find very confusing.

“We have reached a pre-agreement with the conditions of purchase of the rights,” Gonzalo Acier told Bolivision. “With a loan for a year, and the release clause. He would be moving in mid-April to present himself in the final days of the month to join the club.”

It’s not just us. Outlet ABC, from Paraguay, where the player was born, doesn’t trust the claims either.

The outlet points out that Julio Cesar Torres hasn’t played for Blooming de Santa Cruz’s first team. So if it would be strange enough for Tottenham to get a player from Bolivia in the first place, it’s even more strange to sign a footballer who isn’t playing.

ABC also points out that the Premier League has a series of requirements to grant a work permit, such as national team appearances, and Julio Cesar Torres has none.

So we’ll keep an eye on this story, because this is about to get very interesting.
