Mitrovic at that price would be brilliant business. He's basically a less clinical Kane with a temper problem. He'd fit right in, get his goals and would relish in antagonizing the scum and Chelsea.

Yes, the temper is the problem here. He's an A-hole.

He plays further forward for Schalke, or at least he did last season when I saw them play. I was never convinced by him as a holding midfielder. Positioning not very good, and played too many loose balls on the halfway line that got us into trouble. He was good at pressing though, and has become a more creative player in Germany.

I think he was badly shown up defensively when he partnered Mason in CM. Neither of them had the least bit of defensive awareness and there wasn't anyone else once Capoue was sold. I had no problem with him otherwise although some of fanboi accolades were ridiculously OTT. What would really bother me though is his attitude which has also been an issue at Schalke. Sounds like he can be a stroppy fucker if he doesn't get his own way which isn't going to work with Poch (and obviously didn't last time out either). Maybe he's grown up but I think some aspects of character are in the DNA. He's also had some chronic injury issues too which we don't need. All things considered, I'd probably give it a miss unless it's an incredible deal (which it wouldn't be).

Disagree. He couldn’t play with Kane and that means he will spend most of his time on the bench and inevitably be rusty when he comes on. We need another Son, someone like dare I say it Brandt or Bailey from Son’s old club Leverkusen. They could play with Kane or replace him if he was injured.
Both Kane and Mitrovic are good enough footballers to be able to play with each other. Plus Son always plays better off of a target man. I'm not convinced Brandt or Bailey would be better fits relative to cost, especially considering we should spend big on fullback and centermidfield.

ali z on max aarons and jamal lewis (both norwich): We enquired for Aarons in early Jan and watched both plus a few others in the championship this season, interesting to see which way we go in the summer.

I like both of the Norwich full backs. Can't see us signing either if they get promoted which looks very likely right now, they would be guaranteed starters for Norwich in the premier league.

Gotta be honest, I'm perplexed at the Max Aarons deal. To me, its clear we need a starter not a rotational piece. I know everyone will point to Dele but it doesn't seem smart to hang our hats on a 19 year old coming from the Championship to be our RB.

To me it seems like Poch doesn't rate KWP as much as we do and we need a new RB, but having 2 unproven youngsters seems like a trivial way to go about it.

Who do you suggest we go for as a RB? I would love Wan Bissaka but don't think its realistic considering the price he will cost and our needs for a new CM. Most players coming from abroad could have the unproven tag thrown at them too. We also need to add some more homegrown players, youngsters such as Aarons, Lewis & Clarke. We should have moved for Brooks last summer, I think signings like these on top of a big CM signing are the way we should approach this summer.

Oh, I've got a pretty good idea on that one...

Its crazy to me that we can't nick a player off Crystal Palace in a position we desperately need, as a soon to be 4 time consecutive CL club, but thats for another thread and another day.

At the moment we have 2 RB's who are not good enough defensively, trippier provides from an attacking outlet but to me it's the biggest weakness in our squad no matter who we play there. Also seems clear to me that as you said Poch doesn't fancy KWP. So to me we can take a risk of playing a 19 year old there who has the right amount of potential to kick on because having him in there isn't going to be significantly worse than what we're going with already.

Liverpool played Trent there for a season and they have been rewarded massively for that, if Aarons is similar quality to Trent coupled with a season in the championship under his belt, worth the risk in my opinion.

Probably a fair assessment. Trust in Poch I suppose! If the kid is as good as has been suggested then fuck it, yolo.

I reckon we could nick him, were it not for (1) the reality that City want him as well and (2) the utterly bat shit nature of the market

He'd have been a £10m player three seasons ago - now he's a £50m player. It's just mental

and more evidence as to why we need to be smart and probably use the Championship market to find people we can develop, there's plenty of names in the Championship with potential these days. I'd rather take a risk with a couple of those alongside 1 big signing rather than 2-4 average players costing 25 mill each.

Wasn't aware Norwich are currently leading the Championship and likely to be promoted. Cross him off the list then!

tbf united fans are equally perplexed why half our squad arent lining up for them atm. the natural pecking order of clubs is breaking down and football will be better for it.

It should be clear by now we can't nick any player off a premier league club as the price will by upped massively. He is now their most wanted player, surpassing Zaha who they wanted 75m for year ago. They will ask 50m min.

I know, I've been wishing defeats on them haha.
I've always held a hatred of Norwich no real reason other than I hate their colors (Packers colors). After the usual suspects (Arse, WH, Chelsea, Liverpool) they're next on the list of clubs I hate.
