Further update regarding 'High Road West'/Moselle Square. Comes complete with a nice 'artists impression' and a few concept drawings.

https://www.architectsjournal.co.uk...-wests-1bn-tottenham-scheme/10038351.article?
Thanks for that link. As you'd expect from the AJ, that's an article packed with information, no inflammatory populist bollocks and zero spin.

For those who aren't familiar, the Architects' Journal is a longstanding fortnightly publication that covers the development world, not solely architecture.

It was the AJ that was behind the investigative journalism that blew the whistle on Boris Johnson's garden bridge. And their journalism will be relied upon in the lawsuits that are going to follow from its demise.

If this is true and the club is acting like this, they should be fucking ashamed of themselves.
I don’t see how that’s a Disgrace to be honest. The area is a complete shit hole and spurs are already pumping more than enough money into positive regeneration for the area. The least the council can do its resurface a road and clean the streets? I thought that was down to them already?

I know nothing about any of this but right at the end of the article........

A Spurs spokesman said: “Post-match clean-up cost at White Hart Lane was covered by the club’s business rates. The larger new stadium will bring with it significantly larger business rates payments, which will more than cover increased post-match clean-up costs.”

So someone is telling porkies.

Someone's got their wires crossed somewhere it seems.
No way that Haringey council should have to pay for the mess our fans make after games, however, imo.

Why not? They wouldn't have to clean it up if we weren't there and hadn't invested in the area and didn't pay the rates we pay, do other businesses, shops and factories, have to clean up the streets when they close up and go home for the evening?

The club pay their rates, the council should be cleaning it up and thanking us for the pleasure... Alternatively they can cut our rates and we’ll do it ourselves

You have to read the whole article. The club points out that the street cleaning is supposed to come out of their business rates (which it is) and that they are paying much higher business rates for the new stadium, compared to OWHL, which should easily cover the extra cost.

I'm not surprised that's buried at the bottom of the story. Fucks up the spin.

It's a very strange assertion that the local authority should be let off their obligation to clean and repair the streets because a local business, as well as employing scores of local people, brings in 60,000 people to spend money there.

Virtually every London borough has a tourist attraction of some description. I don't hear the others demanding that they pay to clean up after their customers. The real problem here is that the local authority is being asked to increase its costs at the same time as its funding is being reduced.

By all means, criticise the fuckwits who drop their shit everywhere and expect other to clean up after them. People who drop litter are showing what scum they are as people, because littering is a "tell" for people who expect everyone else to clean up their shit in every aspect of their lives.

By all means, criticise the government, which has reduced local authority funding to such an extent that the council can't afford to clean up THFC's mess properly.

But I can't see why anyone would criticise the club. And it isn't really the fault of the council either.

It is the 'super rich Spurs' insinuation that pisses me off.

That old "throw in a slur to alienate Spurs fans, motivate opposition fans to bring home a storyline"

Once again cheap and shabby click bait journalism.

A truly terrible article and it’s no surprise where it came from. An interesting comment regarding business rates. We’d be the highest business rates payer in the borough I’d wager and paying more than enough council tax to for things like this to be covered.

Edit: I see that’s already been covered above. It’s just a pointless article.

The level of journalism since the internet has expanded has massively deteriorated. I found the person twitter who wrote this and he’s basically a nobody with about 400 followers. Any two bit freelancer can write something and then it gets stuck under a legit newspaper banner and people give it credence. With the advent of blogs everybody thinks they can be a journalist these days. A large amount of these stories trace back to small time freelancers that are looking for any angle to making a living.

Do we know that for sure? Not saying that the article is accurate but local authority budgets have been decimated over recent years.

Have to say I find it hard to understand how the shabby state of the local area is down to Spurs fans when we haven't been near the place for nearly two years, have the streets not been swept since the finale?
