What did you clarify? your clarification was still a stupid statement as it's only January

A 6 point gap with 16 games left is fuck all. Especially when you're talking about a team of City's quality, regardless of their form. All it takes is De Breyner and Aguero find some form and go on a run and us to drop points in a couple of games and it's shit the bed time.

Winning the title in our last ever season at White Hart Lane would certainly be a fairy-tale ending

As for it being the most important thing in our history - from my eyes no question, but then I'm only old enough to have seen the 1991 FA cup win and the meek decades since. I guess older fans could argue that the Double Year would still be more important to them

I still can't imagine us actually winning it, but Leicester proved fairy tales can happen

For some reason, every time I see "Leicester" and "fairy tale" in the same sentence, the red mist descends........

Hopefully by then for their sake Bravo would have learnt to catch the ball.

I'm from that older generation, but if we win the treble still before us, this will be our most important year in our history.

winning something this year is the most important thing for this young team. Our back up players should be good enough to get us pass Gent and Wycombe. If we are 7 points or more behind first place after we play stoke (chavs have pool away and arse at home between now and then), then the uefa and fa cup should be our priority.

I'm glad Poch has started talking about winning the title in the last season at the Lane. It was something that was on my mind and in my dreams ever since we were chasing Leicester last year.

He's played a blinder in the last couple of weeks, after each victory he's looked to apply a little more pressure on the team to not let their standards slip, and started talking about the glory that awaits them, if they don't.

I like this. I agree - it really is time for us to finally win something. 2008 was a long time ago.

The title would be and should be our priority - we really have a squad to go all the way and could do it.

However I think that'll be a much harder task than trying to win the FA Cup or Europa League. So there lies the dilemma. I think it's very likely that Pochettino will prioritise the League and risk being KO'd from the cups. We can't complain with team selection if he does this given how badly we faded last term towards the end. Gutting finish.

But, I also think it's really important for the players to win something - something for themselves as well as for the fans that justifies how hard they've worked under Pochettino. It would be a consolation but winning the FA Cup would still be a good reward.

I worry that we may end up like the exciting Leeds team that looked like they were on the verge of something special (in the league, in Europe) but sadly still have to look back to the 70s for their last trophy.

I get your thinking here - but we know that our foundations are financially solid, unlike the Ridsdale nightmare that cost them that team. Also there is no all dominant Fergie led United at this time.

Winning something is all important. We've had a couple of talented squads now that have won fuck all, but have focused everything in chasing fourth place to the detriment of very achievable trophies like the league cup, FA cup and Europa Legaue. We should be looking to win things. Success breeds success. We are a talented team.

The problem with not being focused on 4th place is, that even if we win the FA Cup but miss out on CL we are vulnerable to other teams coming in and picking off our top stars. It's all a balancing act for Poch and Levy.

Some really good posts here. Agree we really need to win something this season or come the summer the vultures will be looking to pick this squad apart. No amount of team spirit is going to stop some wanting away if we never win anything and someone offers to double their wages. Wankers lol.

For the 'Big Picture', long term view, 4th+ is crucial this year. Consolidate our new found position as one of the 'big' teams in this division. As much as I crave a trophy for our club, 4th+ remains our first target this year.

Now let's start getting misty eyed. .. 4th and the FA Cup? Yes please, I'll bite your hand off now.
4th and UEFA Cup? Likewise.

4th and two cups? The wine is obviously kicking in, I'm beside myself.

League champions? League. Champions. It doesn't sound right. Us? Spurs? Tottenham Hotspur Football Club? Champions of England again....but in my life time? ......

OK its a deal. I dare to believe. I dare to do. We CAN do this. We ARE good enough. I believe!
