To everyone who's suddenly going pessimistic after Saturday: did you support us in 2010?

03/04/2010, Spurs lose 3-1 at the Stadium of Light and see their Champions League hopes severely diminish. This is despite Gomes saving two penalties in an utterly inept performance. We fall behind Man City, and our last six games include Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea and a trip to Turf Moor.

10/04/2010, Spurs go to Wembley for an FA Cup semi-final against already-relegated and bankrupt Portsmouth. We lose 2-0. What's more, Palacios picks up his tenth booking of the season, meaning we take on Arsenal and Chelsea without a holding midfielder. Our season is over, it's disappointment yet again. Even Redknapp has largely given up, and proceeds to give a budget signing in the form of a teenager from Yorkshire his debut in the North London Derby four days later.

Then he scores a 35 yard volley after ten minutes, we beat Arsenal in the league for the first time in over a decade, proceed to smash Chelsea and Man City to boot, and qualify for the Champions League.

Things can change in an instant. A bad result in a cup game is not the end of the season. The gap's 4 points, not 14, and it's just as open as it was on Saturday morning. It's not about what happened at Wembley, it's about how both sides react to it - and if we react better, we might just do this. COYS.

if only i could like this a 100x

Yes Palace are in form but no one is in better form in the league than us, just check the form tables.

The bookies have us about 1/2 to win away at Palace, that is about right, and if Chelsea win tomorrow its a must 3 points for us.

this. we dont fear them. they should fear us

I'm not buying that the title's done we're in exactly the same position we were in a week ago albeit out of the cup. But I don't think the cup loss will have a bearing on the title either. If we beat Chelsea on Saturday do you honestly think they were any more likely to lose to Southampton? You'd be expecting 3 consecutive losses for them I can't imagine that's happened even when they were shite last season.

They still have to go out and win games. Draws are no good to them if we win our games.

Keep the faith!

Game by game.....chelseas turn first tomorrow and i have a feeling southampton may give them a bit of a game. Id certainly expect chelsea to drop 2 points in the next 2 games if not 3.

Pressure's on Chelsea tomorrow.

Anything less than a win with a trip to Goodison Park on the Sunday will be a disaster.

I think we're closer this year than last and not all that long ago who'd have thought we'd be challenging for the title two years running? Winning seven games on the trot isn't bad for a team of legends but the scary thing is that each game we win brings us closer to the one we lose or draw and we haven't exactly got the easiest of run ins.

I think we'd probably have to win five out of six, probably all six which would mean us winning 13 games on the spin which however you cut it, is very very unlikely. I hope we do it but i'm not expecting we do it. That way i'll stay sane when the fuse burns out and the powderkeg SC sits astride goes up :D

I'd love to see Hazard's face if we won the PL

He's unsportsmanlike, I noticed after the game against them last season Vertonghen was really digging him out just because of his behavior.

I don't know why Hazard seems to have such a problem with us but part of me kind of thinks it's not that he has a problem with us at all and just the fact he is an arrogant immature piece of work mercenary.

He gave us no credit after the game at the weekend and has been smiling and enjoying the fact he is getting one over on us for the last month or so.

Now I know some will say "Well that's what it takes to be good, being ruthless" but if any of our players were behaving like that, I would be embarrassed and you know what? I think Poch would as well because if there is one thing I know, he teaches our lads that respect comes first.

I think if we get to within 1 point of them then I can see our lads winning all of them, you know the teams I worry most about though? West Ham and Leicester, we both know they would love to stop us dead in our tracks, especially Wet Spam and our away form is not good, so yeah, I think if we are going to come unstuck, it's going to be those fixtures.

I think we will win our next two, just got a feeling.

But, but, but we lost on Saturday, so it won't strictly be 13 games won on the bounce ;-) and this team is good at bouncing back from a defeat.

We first have to show we can handle the pressure if Chelsea drop points. That totally remains to be seen, a la last year and big game mentality. It's alright being underdogs and flying under the radar for most of the season. A great team but no winners medals yet.

Then how did we get to this point in the first place when at the start of the month we were 10pts behind?

I have to agree that I can't see us winning all our remaining games this week alone is where I see dropped points.
We have given a good account of ourselves this year but it's yet another one without a trophy, which is even more annoying that we let ourselves down Saturday because it was our best chance of glory imo.

If we want to win titles you have to win these sort of games. Utd teams of the past would have won the next six games by luck or judgement.

We just have to take it one game at a time, put crystal palace away and take a look at the league. Then do it again in the next game, and the one after, etc.

Agreed. Win the next couple of games, including arse at the Lane, which we're completely capable of doing. Then, we should have Danny Rose back for the run in. That'll give us a boost, and we're a different proposition when he's playing, especially for that United game.
