did Southampton not have anything to play for last season when they held us at home 1-1?

its possible. its very possible.

unfortunately its also possible that we drop points at Palace.

Bookies have Chelsea only 4/9 to win tomorrow. not bad odds for a guaranteed win......

We'll surely that's because each result really does influence how things are likely to play out. That fa cup semi was HUGE for so may reasons. We can 100% absolutely forget the league now, chelseas confidence will be sky high, they'll steam roller southampton and the pressure will really be on us away to the most in form team in the league, I hope we win but I can see our boys being effected by the fa cup loss and possibly drawing or losing. Arsenal then off the back of their win in the fa cup beat Leicester and then are also now sky high coming into the NLD.

If we'd beaten Chelsea their blip would've been turning into a rut/crisis and they may have then slipped up vs Southampton, we'd be bulletproof vs palace and its game on.

Football is as much a mental and momentum game as it is physical and tactical. That being said you just never know what will happen but I for one am now a little worried we may well end up 3/4th. And looking at man.citys run in its easily possible for them to overtake us.

Every game now is huge but Wednesday especially, we really need to bounce back with a win, HUGE TEST OF OUR TEAMS CHARACTER NOW, Have they learnt from last season or not.

COYS.

All that was true before saturday but everyone got soo excited. Now they are depressed.
People were saying we were out of the run for the title (it's all over chelsea have won) then chelsea slip up and they get super excited that we are going to do the double.

People should calm down. The season is 38 games. The fa cup, a win in the 3rd round is just as important as a semi. Wait till the season has finished before judging it good or bad and then look back at what you said about where we will finish at the begining of the season and see if we matched your estimations. Ffs people last season were predicting that we would finish midtable at the end of the summer transfer window, but then had a hissy fit that we didn't win the league.

To everyone who's suddenly going pessimistic after Saturday: did you support us in 2010?

03/04/2010, Spurs lose 3-1 at the Stadium of Light and see their Champions League hopes severely diminish. This is despite Gomes saving two penalties in an utterly inept performance. We fall behind Man City, and our last six games include Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea and a trip to Turf Moor.

10/04/2010, Spurs go to Wembley for an FA Cup semi-final against already-relegated and bankrupt Portsmouth. We lose 2-0. What's more, Palacios picks up his tenth booking of the season, meaning we take on Arsenal and Chelsea without a holding midfielder. Our season is over, it's disappointment yet again. Even Redknapp has largely given up, and proceeds to give a budget signing in the form of a teenager from Yorkshire his debut in the North London Derby four days later.

Then he scores a 35 yard volley after ten minutes, we beat Arsenal in the league for the first time in over a decade, proceed to smash Chelsea and Man City to boot, and qualify for the Champions League.

Things can change in an instant. A bad result in a cup game is not the end of the season. The gap's 4 points, not 14, and it's just as open as it was on Saturday morning. It's not about what happened at Wembley, it's about how both sides react to it - and if we react better, we might just do this. COYS.

Can't really see Southampton getting anything from the Chelsea game, but I also don't see us slipping up against Palace.

I genuinely think we're stronger mentally than we were last year so the semi-final won't lead to us falling apart.

My only concern is tiredness at this stage as there's not been a lot of rotation recently, and our wider squad isn't exactly electric.

If we do drop points at Palace it will be worrying, but nothing that's happened so far in 2017 suggests we will.

Palace are one of the in form teams in the PL. In their last 5 games they've won at Chelsea and Liverpool, beaten Arsenal 3-0, come back from 2-0 down to draw with Leicester. They did lose 3-1 against Southampton after beating Chelsea.

This is a team with a lot of confidence and will really be up for it. They are not quite mathematically safe but good as which might very well be in our favour. Either way I don't see this game as a gimmee

Surely Saturdays game suggests we could easily drop points at Palace?

If we underestimate Palace we will lose. I am dreading this game to be honest. It's not going to be easy at all especially their form as of late.

Didn't say it would be a gimme.

But I think we'll win.

It's funny, our title odds before Saturday's match were 14%.

After Saturday's match, they are still 14%.

Yes Palace are in form but no one is in better form in the league than us, just check the form tables.

The bookies have us about 1/2 to win away at Palace, that is about right, and if Chelsea win tomorrow its a must 3 points for us.

Think we may get a draw due to perhaps a hangover from Saturday it's the gooners I'm concerned about now, after weeks and weeks of playing shit you just know they will turn up and get a result.

Can't see them losing to Soton?
Could you see them losing to CP at home? Could you Liverpool losing yesterday or city drawing at home to Boro?

No one can see nothing, and that is what is very exciting atm..!

Enjoy while it last, it can be anything from 1-7 point wednesday night.
