Congrats to the city of Boston. Their long and difficult 98 day title drought has finally ended.

Tbf to both teams would you go all out for the win if you knew it meant having to spend a day at the White House

Also people complaining about the game being boring is peak social media sports ffs. When did the entertainment factor for the fans of the teams not involved become the important part of a sporting event's final?

That's always been an important part of the Super Bowl. The SB is supposed to be 'The Greatest Show on Earth'. It's the game most watched by neutrals but also by those who don't regularly follow the NFL. No one but Seattle fans really remembers when they beat down Denver. Everyone remembers David Tyree's helmet catch and Kevin Dyson being tackled inches short of the end zone. Entertaining those viewers not committed to a participating team is a factor in how SB's are judged.

I slept after the first quarter, you can tell it was shit and I would have been annoyed had I been awake for it.

I'm glad I recorded it and watched it this morning so I could fast forward through all the intervals. Rams just couldn't get any offence going.

Gurley must have been carrying an injury through the whole of the playoffs. Great play by McCourty stopping cooks certain TD.

A horrible game but we pick up SB win #6. Thought Gilmore (Int, forced fumble, 3 PBUs) should have been MVP with the defense holding the Rams to 3 points.

We have gotten 9 appearances since 2001 and now i think we are going to start winding down to normalcy....May have been Gronk's last game, Brady i think sticks around but clearly isn't the player he was even 2 years ago, the McCourty brothers entering the twilight of their career. We will still have a chance as long as Belichick hangs in there but i think the band is about to start calling it a career.

I remember watching this team when we were awful. I remember when Tommy Hodson, Scott Zolak, Hugh Millen (a back up QB from Atlanta signed as a free agent to be the "savior" of the offence) and the corpse of Steve Grogan were playing QB, when we were using 1st round picks on Hart Lee Dykes, Chris Singleton, Ray Agnew, Pat Harlow, Leonard Russell and Eugene Chung, when we lost 61 games in the span of 6 years...So to get to see this run has been something amazing, its going to be tough to see it finally come to an end.

Just pleased for my Son in Law and Daughter who live just outside of Boston. He's a massive Patriots fan and he took me to the Gillette Stadium when we visited them. They had lost the opening game of last season, blamed the pitch and were re-laying it when we went.

Considering who the owners of the Rams are I can't be too upset that the Patriots won.

funny thing to me is the SEC plays these kind of games week in and week out and all the pundits crow about how great the football is in the SEC. make up your minds.

What you on about? So you're saying that for neutral fans, it shouldn't matter whether the game is entertaining? Surely it's the other way round i.e. for a neutral fan surely the entertainment factor should be the most important part because, by definition, you haven't got a vested interest in the result and are just watching it for entertainment. It's nothing to do with social media, it's just common sense isn't it and has always been that way?

At least it was close the whole way through. That made it more interesting. The worst SuperBowl I've watch was the Broncos v Seahawks game because it was over at half time.

Agree. A low-scoring but close game is far more entertaining than a complete blow-out because at any moment someone could make a mistake and cost the game.

And those types of games were frequent in the 80s and 90s. We've actually had a nice run of competitive super bowls lately.

Ya, we've been very lucky the last 15ish years. I thought the playoffs in general were amongst the worst they've been in a while even though it looked like on of the most competitive on paper in a while.

Hunt looks to be joining the Browns.

Antonio Brown has asked to be traded from the Steelers.
