Sacked by Newcastle, Norwich and Brighton - he got all of them promoted, kep them up, and was sacked at all three when they were outside the relegation zone. Newcastle and Norwich subsequently got relegated.

If he feels hard done by I wouldn't blame him.

I know it’s not the fashionable thing to say because we all love Chris but I think it was a sensible move overall.

Their second half form was not only abysmal but Chris seemed to have absolutely no idea how to end it. He essentially went to a “back to basics” idea with a squad of players from last year going for an almost all out defensive approach (which we witnessed) and it didn’t do anything for them. They were basically going out trying to draw games and even that was a slog.

Add to that the board invested heavily in him allowing him to pick out most of the purchases and they’ve essentially all flopped and he’s really struggled to bed any of them in the team. I can see why a board would be very gun shy to invest in him again if that’s what he was asking for.

Overall it reminds me off the Nigel Adkins situation at Southampton which similarly had people up in arms over. That said it all depends on who they bring in now, but the PL money and prestige can actually see some fairly good managers join lower end teams like Brighton now a days so let’s see what they do from here.

I have no doubt Chris is going to get himself a good Championship job or he’ll be one of the first names teams go for when someone is fired early on in the PL season so we should see him soon.

Best of luck Chris.

as harsh as it looks, and he has done a great job getting them to the PL and keeping them in it, it's not that surprising.

Finished with 40pts last season, their first in the league, and 36 this season. A drop of two places meaning they only stayed up by 2pts. Just two wins from January-May is really poor and nearly cost them their place in the league. They obviously aren't a very good side but spent a fair bit this season and the bigger signings didn't do very much at all (Locadia, 2 goals; Jahanbaksh, 21 goals with AZ to 0 with Brighton). Even players like Gross underperformed from last year. Their style changed to try and pick up the occasional point here and there and limp to safety. They also need a new captain for next year, so it seems the chairman wants a fresh start.

Simon Burnton made a good point on Football Weekly. If the club knew they were going to sack him, why didn't they announce that he would be leaving a few days before the final game? Bruno got to have a nice good-bye with the crowd, why not let Hughton have that as well? I guess the board didn't want the fans turning on them during the game, but it's a shame that he was deprived of that moment.

Chris Coleman (Ex Wales Manager) Sacked In China...I love the supporters banner...very polite.

I was wondering what had happened to Coleman the other day. Had no idea he’d gone to China. What a mistake he made in quitting Wales for flipping Sunderland. He’s an average coach who had a superstar to drag his underdog team along at Wales, it made him look much better than he actually was.

There's also an argument that international and club management are two completely different jobs that just happen to have the same title, there have been scores of managers who have succeeded at one and not the other. Not being the day-to-day manager and being able to focus only on scouting and media work for 10 months of the year and prioritising team bonding alongside intense tactical sessions and drills when the players got together makes the international job one where you often need a very different set of skills than a club manager.

Coleman might do well if he went back to international football with a different country, or even if he goes back to Wales when Giggs gets the boot, but a good club manager he has proved that he is not.

Spot on. Especially when for them the game was a complete dead rubber anyway. Pretty poorly handled all round I think.

Allegri to leave Juventus in the summer confirmed. Reckon he’s Chelsea bound.
Would he go there with the transfer ban hanging over them and losing Hazard?
Man U should’ve waited before appointing Ole.

I’m sure it reads he led Juventus to FOUR successive domestic doubles???

That’s pretty incredible.

And looks like Juventus are the ones initiating this part, I know they want champions league but that just seems a bit loco to me.

Pulis leaves Middlesbrough,
I expect Bielsa to leave Leeds, he has history of this kind of thing.
