Swansea confirm that Carvalhal won't stay on next season.

I know results haven't been great recently, but it seems like another strange decision. I thought half the reason they appointed him was because he had experience of the championship and could help them get back up?

But that's a debate for another thread.....

Will he be attempting a west London accent?

Perhaps it was Holloway's mushroom hat that did for him in the end?

If I was a QPR fan, the thought of McLaren taking over would seriously underwhelm me. I'm struggling to think of a less imaginative appointment.

It's a football version of Jurassic Park.

Just a reminder that Ian Holloway is a complete and utter managerial fraud who has made millions of pounds through abject failure on the football pitch and being a silly prick in interviews.

One of life's great injustices is that this talentless gimp is a multi-millionaire for absolutely no reason whatsoever.

Carvalhal is leaving Swansea at the end of the season.

Odd all round. It seemed the appointment was with relegation in mind, as he was a Championship manager. Then he got a few good results at the start, giving them hope, but wins turns to draws turned to defeats and no goals so they will be relegated, so they fire him..

Reckon they want Coleman instead.

That's a bit harsh. He did get Blackpool and Palace into the premier league so he's had some success. He's clearly not one of the top managers, but calling him a fraud is OTT.

Please tell me he didn't say that!

Nope, he's a total fraud.

At Palace in particular he had Freedman to thank for getting them into an automatic promotion position before he left - Holloway then very nearly managed to drop them all the way down out of the playoffs such was the downturn in form he brought, they just scraped in and then scraped through the playoffs.

Obviously he was then sacked at Palace - this was after he had actually stopped turning up for training sessions and was only appearing at games - no-one at the club had a clue what was wrong with him and why he wasn't turning up for work but it was kept very quite. I know one of the coaches there though and the club were absolutely disgusted with his behaviour, as were the players.

The Blackpool promotion was actually pretty much the only real success he's ever had in the game - and of course they went straight back down anyway. He's relegated practically every club he's managed. He's been sacked again and again.

He is a total and utter fraud, it's the only way to describe him.

Interesting. For some reason I thought he'd had mental health issues in the past, but I can't find any information about that. Maybe it was just a rumour.

i am kinda disappointed that both Moyes and Allardyce will not be sticking around next season. I am sure they received a very generous payment for guiding the team to safety, but I kinda feel they deserve a full season. I think both did a great job, walked into a club in trouble, and got the team believing in themselves and playing decent football. Think they earned a chance.

It seems that both sets of supporters want someone who can provide exciting football. Instead of a steady person who has totally change their season around.

I wonder.. Is it worth the risk? U had one season flirting with relegation, and instead of building on what u have.... U decided to look overseas to bring in someone and hope that person can do some magic and get u into the champions league.

Essentially football fans want to dream.

Really hard to do with those managers in charge.

Dean Austin has been given the permanent managers job at Northampton. He'd been caretaker boss since April and picked up seven points from the last five games but couldn't keep them up. He seems to be well thought out at the club.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/44090285

Since 2003 Northampton have appointed:
Terry Fenwick, Colin Calderwood, John Gorman, Justin Edinburgh and now Dean Austin.

Bet their fans can't wait until the board gets to Spurs Annuals from 2000 onwards. Sol Campbell might even get a job. After Luke Young, Anthony Gardner and Alton Thelwell.

How do these people keep getting the gigs? I wonder if I can get a bet on him being sacked by Christmas and replaced by Alan Pardew?
TBF if you were to ask QPR fans and Derby Fans what they think of McLaren, they would all praise him. This is a case of a manager who needs the right environment to do well but also someone who is appreciated by his fans but mocked by outsiders

If I was a QPR fan, the thought of McLaren taking over would seriously underwhelm me. I'm struggling to think of a less imaginative appointment.
Again ask QPR fans, of his influence when he was there and they will all say the same, as soon as he left the wheels fell off

I think a lot of Derby fans wouldn't mind him back at derby, Derby is one of the best supported clubs in the championship for the last 10 years and yet if you look at the attendance and it has been poor. Despite many fans praising Rowett, watching him week in week out has been poor.

Dont get me wrong he is amazing at setting his teams up defensively but there is no joy, good play going forward and not much development.
