It always fascinates me with Big Sam how much fans get on his back.

At Bolton when he could actually get the players he wanted they played some good stuff with some real flair players.

He goes in and sorts the basics out but clubs don't seem to want to give him the chance to build and add the flair.

With some money behind him I wonder if he could have really got Everton going but seems they got what they needed out of him and now trying out a shiny new toy and hoping it don't go pear-shaped (again).

And why did Derby sack McClaren as thought he was quite popular there having gone back? (he is a bit weird though).

Sam Alladyce appears to be a real love or hate him character. In terms of ability to rile up his own fans, I always think he comes across a bit like Tim Sherwood in that alot of self-credit when it goes right but washes his hand of any blame. Football fans are a sensitive bunch and I guess his straight talking and arrogant approach can be a bad mix!

I think he's done a decent job at Everton. Walked into a strong (if not completely ill balanced) squad and achieved what he had to. When I see the relationship Poch has with our club and fans, I can understand a club like Everton craving a manager like that.

But that's a debate for another thread.....

TBF if you were to ask QPR fans and Derby Fans what they think of McLaren, they would all praise him. This is a case of a manager who needs the right environment to do well but also someone who is appreciated by his fans but mocked by outsiders

Again ask QPR fans, of his influence when he was there and they will all say the same, as soon as he left the wheels fell off

I think a lot of Derby fans wouldn't mind him back at derby, Derby is one of the best supported clubs in the championship for the last 10 years and yet if you look at the attendance and it has been poor. Despite many fans praising Rowett, watching him week in week out has been poor.

Dont get me wrong he is amazing at setting his teams up defensively but there is no joy, good play going forward and not much development.
Actually, having gone on qprdotorg, I have to admit that the reaction was mostly positive. I suppose that I was largely judging him on his England tenure (a job that has destroyed many a good manager) and Newcastle (where he was seen as a Yes Man for Ashley).

Big Sam being sacked tomorrow and replaced with Silva according to SSN.

Seems like Leicester are also in for him.

Is there something I am not seeing? Never felt he was anything special.

It looks like there's going to be quite a few managerial changes over the summer - Arsenal, Everton, Leicester, West Ham and possibly Newcastle, Huddersfield* & Southampton. Not sure if Watford are thinking about another change, but it wouldn't surprise me.

* Wagner seems to be wanted by a few clubs back in Germany.

Wagner is apparently also on both Everton and Leicester's shortlists.

For being too successful and having a mad man as an owner, Mel Morris whilst being a fan and imo english gets a pass from a lot of flack whereas foreign owners get chastised for doing the same thing like Watford's owners

When Steve took over derby, they were sitting 2 points above relegation, after playing a quarter of the season. He was simply expected to get derby to safety and build a team for the next season to challenge going up. He took a team that didnt do well at all under pearson and got 10 points from 11 points to winning 9 matches from the next 12 games.

Heading in to February they were in the playoff spots and had their first bad run losing 4 games and drawing 2 games during that period yet when he was very unlucky with injuries was given no money during both managing periods to spend but because of a dodgy late equaliser, derby needed to go on a winning run to close the gap between them and a playoff spot and then losing to Brighton was deemed the last straw and the chairman sacked him despite Steve doing better than expected.

As a result, the fans have become fed up, they arent keen on Rowett as the rest of the country and attendances for the first time have been going down. Also Rowett became the long serving manager under the current chairman earlier this season with a term that wasnt even a year at the time FFS.

Personally I rather have McLaren at derby right now over Rowett

Yep....Big Sam gone...nice little earner for him...Marco Silva rumoured to be the desired replacement but ill feeling between the two clubs after Everton's last approach for him may mess things up.

Silva isn't still at Watford, why should the conflict from last autumn matter at all?
