Indeed. We've missed him big time. Davies has done alright in his absence but our best formation is 3-4-2-1 with marauding wingbacks. Had Rose played on Saturday we probably would've beaten Chelsea.
Our defence would have been more composed, and given we played fairly well every where else I think we would have done too.

Listen there is no point us debating this anymore, bottom line is you are much more positive about this than I am. And without a doubt the stats are on your side of the augment. But I am sorry after last years disappointment until we are mathematically garunteed 4th I will continue to be considered about who is behind us and not ahaead. After yesterday's defeat pool slipped up big time and gives us a great shot at finishing second. But Utd and city are coming into play again. Bottom line is we should do it, but I will wait to celebrate until we do.

We haven't dropped ANY points for 7 games. How exactly are City and United "coming into play again"?

Confidence! Let's face it the united win against Chelsea was a big one and Man City thumping Southampton 3-0 away didn't do them any harm. Remember the game Southampton gave us at home! They were a good side.
Look we are getting nowhere here. You think we have nothing to worry about and I have another view. Let's leave it there and we can see what happens at the end of the season.

I'm glad we have Palace straight after the Chelsea defeat, and not Arsenal. I don't think there's a huge amount of difference in quality between us and the other teams in the top 6. We've had tough games against Liverpool, City, and United, and out scored twice in three games v Chelsea. The main difference is that us and Chelsea have been significantly better at winning consistently against the rest of the league.

Not saying we wouldn't beat Arsenal if they were next up, but I'd prefer a confidence builder against a team we are definitely better than in every way. If we don't beat Palace it's more likely to be down to us not playing as well as we can, rather than being outclassed.

I actually wished we were playing Arsenal next, they have just had to play extra time, and if they were playing us they would have to play near on the same team v us. v Leicester they might feel they can get away with not playing their strongest XI, where as we will have to play ours for the next 2.

I also feel playing Arsenal under the lights gives the crowd a bigger lift, don't get me wrong Sunday the place should be so loud anyway that if they brought the bulldozers in straight after I doubt the ball on them would need to make that much impact, but had it been a midweek game, it would rock even more

For me it's simple. Of Southampton take any points off Chelsea tomorrow we've got a chance. If not, not.

I want 3 points on Wednesday to keep us in the hunt for the League (albeit my head says we won't catch Chelsea), but just as much as that I want the 3 points because it would be another step towards the 8 points we need to mathematically guarantee that this is a season that we can look back on and smile.

Those 8 points would make me so happy I can't tell you.

the 8 points you are dreaming of are to finish above the scum, providing we match their result Wednesday, then beat them next Sunday and your preys will be answered(y)

they have to play Leicester who are playing better now, and to have a chance of top4 they know they have to win on Wednesday, that could play into Leicester's hands as they are getting their results due to counter attacking football just like last season. though that will be the worry if we are still involved in the final week, we will have to win, leaving us open to the counter.

Due to our GD Chelsea only need draw 2 games assuming We win all ours. Just a couple of those days were you hit the framework several times and opposition keepers have super games.

It's very possible, it's all very exciting a diarrhea worthy time

not sure if you have looked at the fixtures, but at the moment

Liverpool have 4 to play, have to win 2 more games than us
Man C have played the same as us, but have to win 3 more than us, and 1 of those games is against Man U, both teams can't get max points
Man U, have also played the same as us, they also need to win 3 more games than us, but have to play Man C, Arsenal, and us
Arsenal have 1 extra game to play, they have to win 5 more games than us to go above us, they have to play Man U, and us.

I really cannot see us losing 4 of our remaining 6 games.

Palace is a tricky 1 but now Palace are as good as safe, and playing Burnley at the weekend, Sam has as good as said he intends to rotate. for title aspirations we really need 3pts, and 5 more wins after and hope Chelsea slump v 2 of Southampton, Everton, or WBA not an easy place to visit at the best of times, let alone a Friday night and due to their physicality of the WBA game, Watford a few nights after might not be such a push over

Arsenal have to beat us, they can't afford to sit back, and have a shaky defence.

Wet Spam might raise their game for their cup final, but have struggled at home against better teams that can open them up on their bigger pitch which they really ain't used too still.

Man U have a EL match 3 nights earlier, and we will be their toughest opo since Rojo and Ibra got injured. if they are beaten by Celta Vigo over the 2 legs, the only hope they have of a win in our final ever match at the old lane will be to attack us, which won't suit Moaninho's usual tat-tics against top 6 teams

Leicester are tough 1 to go by if we are still needing points for anything.

Hull City oh of course we fucked up v Newcastle so we are bound to do so again, we played Newcastle at a time they were down, but hadn't lost any of their previous 5 and we had 3 of our best players missing that day (Rose, Dembele, and Alli). we never came out the blocks at all got caught cold and found ourselves 2-0 down by half time. we stared the 2nd half well, got 1 back, and even though down to 10 men (no guarantee's v 10 men) we got done by a sucker punch counter that lead to a pen due to a dive, with 14 mins left. after that it didn't matter if we lost 10-1 our only option was to go full out attack which we did with our sole defender being Davies (not the quickest) and on 2 more counters lead to 2 more goals.

so many perms would need to go against us, we would have to lose 4 games and all the other teams results go against us too, yet this season we have only conceded more than 2 goals in any match twice, both in the FA Cup, we have won our last 11 home games, and the only games we have lost have been away against 1st, 3rd and 5th

with home games v Boro and Sunderland that GD isn't a definite. at the moment we are +8 better than them, if we get the results go our way we will need to make sure we extend that on each set leading up to their Boro match, and hope Defoe can dent them on the counter on the final match.

would love it so much if we did beat them on GD, and due to the amount of energy used to try and get the turnover in GD, they lose to Arse in the final (hate saying that, but having a few Chelscum giving it large after Saturday). would be poetic justice if they ended up with nothing after downing tools last season.

They need to drop points in two games. Draw or lose, it doesn't make a difference, we need to win all our games AND they need to drop points in two games.

But why would we have no chance if they beat Southampton? They'd still have another five games in which they could drop points.

Well this is the date last season where we draw at West Brom and then draw with Chelsea and lost the final 2 games. We now have 6 games left instead of 4 and I really do hope we have learnt our lessons. I think we'll win 3, lose 1 and draw 2.

Yes like you say the stats are in our favour alright. But as we all know this is the EPL and anything can happen. we will see. Hope Our team finishes as well as you are so confident it will

I really ain't worried about not finishing in the top 4, and even on the mind the gap season, I wasn't that confident of finishing above the goons. this season I am if we win 1 they will still need to win 5 more than us, if we win 2 it means they have to win all 7 of their remaining and us losing 4.

after tonight a little less confident of 1st place, now down to Everton to take something off them, and now Palace is a must win to get any hopes alive. if Soton had nicked something tonight, then with their away games v Everton and WBA it would of allowed us the possibility of drawing 1 game and still scrapping it. do not seeing them dropping points in their remaining 3 home games

Tomorrow is a massive match for us. Winning it would almost guarantee CL qualification, and probably both automatic CL qualification and finishing above Arsenal. The main reason I think that is down to the psychological effect it will have. Win and it takes the pressure off quite a lot in terms of achieving the above (I'll consider the title if and when the Chavs drop points). Lose or draw and it will pile on the pressure in our remaining games.

We could beat Palace, lose to the gooners (I doubt it, but we could), and I'd be confident of us recovering. However, drop points to both Palace and Arsenal and suddenly the doubts and memories of last season will creep in.
