Barca he made a mistake but recovered well, he had a good overall game.

Palace he played as a LB not sure you can score him fairly for that.

Southampton, 1 good half, 1 bad so...

He does need more matches to build up consistency and he won't get that being 3rd choice so we need to make a decision in the summer - personally I think we need to sell Trippier and have Aurier and KWP fight it out for the RB spot next season.

Personally I'd sell Aurier and Trippier and make KWP backup only if we can be certain if he stays injury free we can give him 20 or so games or else I'd probably rather keep one of our other RB's and make them back up whilst loaning out KWP. I think we could get decent money for Trippier/Aurier though.

It would be silly to write him off based on one poor showing. But I think maybe a few of the people who’ve been calling for Trippier and Aurier to be dropped and or sold should maybe now realise that he’s not ready.

He needs a Championship loan IMO...if he can handle the physical side of the Championship and thrive, then I'd have more faith in his potential at Tottenham. At the moment I have serious doubts because he just doesn't look strong enough. Even Kyle Naughton looked more physically suited to play there and he wasn't very good at all.
I agree. He has shown he has potential but has areas to work on.

Poch likes slow development, in general, so a season getting experience and dealing with the challenges of the league will be great for him.

Rose thrived at Sunderland, time for KWP to play regularly.

The not enough games excuse doesn’t cut it. We’ve had young players get thrown like him without much prep. I didn’t see Kane struggle, Dele struggle, Winks struggle, Davidson struggle. Maybe I am being hard on him but I can see why Poch had him on the bench.

Kane, Dele and Sanchez all had prior experience, KAne and Dele had played over 50 league matches in lower divisions, Sanchez played for an Ajax team that went to a Europa League final the season prior, Winks is largely an anomaly if you compare him to a host of other young players around the world, young players get better with experience.

The point is though not every players is the same, not every player has the same characteristics or mentality or ability so trying to compare players and saying well if so and so done this, so should he etc...doesn't really cut it.

Dele Alli had how many games at MK Dons, Kane had how many loans away and europa games before getting his opportunity with us?, Sanchez played a season at Ajax and got to the champions league final in South America. Harry Winks was given a lot more opportunity in and around games, none of them can be compared to the little amount of games that KWP has had.

Kane was Championship, Sanchez was Holland”s Erivadise probably Championship opposition, Dele was third division or whatever. Winks came in cold. KWP has been training with the first team FFS for 2 years plus, twelve of whom were at the WC. What more does he need?

I mean you just argued your own point, those players have match experience he doesn't. If you think match experience isn't more important than training then I don't know what to tell you.

Focus on Trippier, chief. Not sure you have enough bandwidth to criticize KWP and defend Kieran :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Seriously like, one was a good pass. The KWP brigade are really over-egging this 3 assists thing. If they'd all been great balls, I wouldn't say anything...but '3 assists' gets trotted out pretty regularly as some mark of his quality.

Hector Enrique got an assist for Argentina against England in the 1986 World Cup, he gave the ball to Maradona in his own half before he skinned the whole fucking pitch.

You missed the point @wrd . He has been training and playing with PL and International players week in week out. The others were playing in lesser quality divisions without mentoring by a world class coach every day.

Im not missing the point at all, I know the benefits of training with top class players but training can only get you so far before you need things which only actually playing games can give you. Foyth has the exact same problem, struggles with danger and even though he's training with 2 of the best cb's in the world, he will not be able to read a game until he's given that match experience.

He doesn't get as much game time because clearly Poch and the staff can see his limitations too.

I'm far from an Aurier fan, but pre-kick off I was shocked that he wasn't in the squad tbh.

As I said, match experience.

It was literally the one opportunity Poch had to give Aurier a run of games with Trippier being injured, I can't believe he didn't play. It doesn't matter what people think of Auriers and KWP's ability at this point, objectively Poch never gives them a run of games no matter the circumstances and so I don't see them being here come end of summer because Poch doesn't think they're good enough.

He's only 21 (22 next month). Watching him yesterday, it's clear as day he is good on the ball and can dribble past players with ease, but, when needed to do his primary job, was found wanting twice, both resulting in goals (although his teammates were equally culpable for the first). Think he needs a season of first team loan football, ideally in the premier, but championship if not. Otherwise, he needs to play here, and we (well, you lot really) are going to need some patience, let him learn on the job, and not get on his back if he struggles at times.

I learnt from the Kane situation never to judge a player too early - Kane was really fuckin awful. How wrong was I

KWP though is not ready and certainly should be loaned for a season or two and see how things go.

Calamitous for both goals. Let Armstrong run off his shoulder twice in horribly dangerous positions. He's not good enough now, and I'm starting to wonder if he ever will be honestly.
KWP is a good player, will get better, stronger and more aware of players running off him.
His natural ball carrying instincts have been unfortunately reined in. It shows as he's not taking any chances and hesitating on & off the ball.
Yesterday, the 1st goal was poor defending from the whole back 4. Davison going to ground early, Vertongen ball watching and Rose having a brain freeze by doing a dummy in the 6 yard box.
