So apparently just because he had a poor 2nd half he won't ever make it with us, interesting take on things, nothing knee jerk about that at all.

So how do youngsters get blooded ? We have to take the risk or close down the Academy.

That is the challenge every Prem team faces.

Southampton have a very good youth system but numerous managers now haven’t played their youth players due to relegation risks. They did play them in the lower leagues.

The fact that Kane and Winks play is enough of a reason to keep academy.

Then we have the sales of the likes of Bentaleb, Mason and others makes it possible our academy is making money rather than costing so no need in any sense to close it down.

The sad reality is some players with very good potential might not be able to make it unless they leave the club.

I don't think it's necessarily knee jerk, he's been sitting there for 2 seasons without Poch giving him any real opportunities, when he's come in he has struggled (which I think is Poch's fault) which means Poch is unlikely to give him too many more chances. How is it knee jerk in that scenario to come to the conclusion that he's likely not going to be given the chances to succeed at spurs?

Best case scenario I see is him going out on Loan and making us look stupid so we have to give him another opportunity, because his development is being ruined by us.

I like to give youngsters a chance but I can already see he is not going to be good enough. Even though quick he lacks off the mark acceleration and does not sense danger quickly enough and seems to panic at times. He is already behind a number of young fullbacks at other clubs. Personally think the club under estimated the value of Kyle Walker and should have done a lot more to try and keep him.

Broadway Danny has previous in terms of performances. The guy has done the hard yards. He deserves a rain check. Walker Peters is the love child of the collective wank of the yoof brigade who can’t stop trying to convince us that a turnip is a fucking truffle. I keep watching him and going WTF...is it me? Maybe he is the second coming and I can’t see it like Edwards and I’m just a thick **** :D

I think this is the crux of the issue.

Could be wrong but he appears to have very good potential but currently not at the level to play for a top six Prem side.

The club need to know what is best for him as not every player thrives in the same way.

Will he get to level if he continues training hard and get sporadic performances? Is a six month Championship loan going to get him there?

Maybe he needs to leave, get regular football and build his career more slowly.

As per my previous posts the development of players and how to get them to top six level is our challenge.

I'd hate him to get a loan in the championship, surely he can get in as RB at one of the bottom 10 clubs otherwise why have we kept him hanging on for 2 years, I feel like we've failed him tbh, I don't know how good he can be but he's not been given the opportunity to succeed and we should have either given him chances, loaned him out or sold him completely. Not stuck him in once every 20 games, I don't see how he can ever become first choice at spurs when his formative years are being wasted in this fashion.

I knew this would happen :ROFLMAO:. Trippier has a bad game, everyone calls for KWP. Aurier has a bad game, everyone calls for KWP. KWP finally starts and has a bad game and.......
He was great in the first half up and down the line and showed me, personally, that I maybe wrote him off a little too early.

Lots to do with him to bring him up to consistent standard, but it was the first time I looked at him and thought he might yet have a chance.

We'll see; but I loved that I've had to think again about him as I like the kid.

The most impressive thing about his performance first half was the aura of maturity he carried, which I think is a major hurdle for him.

He has to become a man on the field.

He's been sitting there for 2 years because he's had more senior and experienced right backs in front of him - not his fault.

Also he hasn't really struggled when he's come in has he, that's clearly nonsense.

It's kree jerk because people once again are writing a young player off based on one match, actually based on 45 mins even. The whole team capitulated and more senior players should be taking the brunt of the criticism but to single him out is bollocks.

I think it is very optimistic to expect any top ten Prem side to loan him and play him regularly.

No I agree it's not his fault, I think the club have stunted his development though and he has struggled to be fair, he's played 4 games. One fantastic game vs Bournemouth followed by Barca, Palace and Southampton. He has struggled in all 3 and my issue is that after each game he has to wait another 15-20 for another game instead of being able to kick on. I struggle to see however in the final 10 games how he's going to get another opportunity which makes me concerned for him come summer. I agree that more people are at fault for this result than him and I'd start with Rose and Kane to be honest but as a poster said they have bags of good performances under their belt where people aren't going to be a critical.

prior to yesterday he'd made three starts in the league with three wins, two clean sheets, three mom awards(whether you agree with them or not, just stating a fact) and five assists, so he hasn't struggled every time he's played. he has had some good games and some not so good ones, a mixed bag ultimately but i don't know how you can really expect anything different given the lack of experience and game time he's had. aurier has had plenty of rough outings but people still say(rightly or not) that he needs a run of games before deciding on him but it seems that doesn't apply to kwp.

Barca he made a mistake but recovered well, he had a good overall game.

Palace he played as a LB not sure you can score him fairly for that.

Southampton, 1 good half, 1 bad so...

He does need more matches to build up consistency and he won't get that being 3rd choice so we need to make a decision in the summer - personally I think we need to sell Trippier and have Aurier and KWP fight it out for the RB spot next season.

He's the same age as Wan Bissaka at Palace, who appears to be much more assured and effective full back. I'd love to see KWP develop into a great talent, but from I've seen, i struggle to to see that ever happening.

Should've had this season out on loan. No player will play to their full potential with months between appearances(whatever that full potential is). In the best part of 2 seasons how many games has he played? Not enough is on easy answer.

Yeah I was focusing on this season, as I say I don't put the blame on him, I think he showed enough to deserve more opportunities at different times but I'm looking at it objectively, he didn't get opportunities after motm performances, what opportunities is he going to get after this game and we are in the shit and can't afford anymore slip ups? Trust me ability wise, I'm not saying he can't be our RB and develop into a great player, the truth is I can't judge that but I can absolutely say with certainty that the way we have used him so far and stunted his development, he is not going to become our right back, we have really shit the bed with him and I think either Sell him, loan him out for development or we should have given him a run of games earlier in the season. What we are doing right now is terrible for a players development.

The not enough games excuse doesn’t cut it. We’ve had young players get thrown in like him without much prep. I didn’t see Kane struggle, Dele struggle, Winks struggle, Davidson struggle. Maybe I am being hard on him but I can see why Poch had him on the bench.

He needs a Championship loan IMO...if he can handle the physical side of the Championship and thrive, then I'd have more faith in his potential at Tottenham. At the moment I have serious doubts because he just doesn't look strong enough. Even Kyle Naughton looked more physically suited to play there and he wasn't very good at all.
