Poch hasn't been afraid to start him in the odd Premier League game, I wonder if he's had fitness issues recently. It's not as if there's many other players to replace him on the bench.

The Foyth at RB was likely done to manage Sterling, working well repeated with Anderson. Wouldn't surprise me if we do in a CL final as well

Very strange and worrying he didn’t play at all today, let alone started. We started with six players who could have played as a defender and none of them were a traditional right back, and without a natural right winger playing either, our right wing was very ineffective.

I can understand why Foyth might get a game given the matches we have had this month and have coming up, but why KWP wasn’t the right back I do wonder. If it’s an issue of trust, then you wonder if KWP has a long term future with us? (Personally I’m undecided, and hope he does in some way, but you have to wonder what Poch thinks)

There is no point for KWP to stick with our first team next season. I would prefer a loan in the Premier League. If he fights through that with good performances, bring him back in. it did wonders to Kyle Walker and Danny Rose.
10 games a season won't make him progress anymore.

KWP needs to be sent out on loan. For him to be behind Trippier, Foyth and presumably a fit Aurier, is criminal.

He started the first game of the season and now is effectively 4th choice RB, time for him to move on and kickstart his career elsewhere

Not even sure there’s any point in a loan may as well sell him. I guess you could loan to bump up price. But Pochettino sees them everyday and prefers foyth as an option, hard to see how a loan will change that if he’s now formed that opinion. That’s without even factoring in trippier and Aurier and fact we may buy a new RB. Pathway just seems impossible for him.

Poor guy, surely tricked into signing a new contract or lack of ambition? Dont understand what the plan is for him at all. He has looked shakey in defence but what can you expect from a young player has not even made 10 caps at the age of 22. For me he has looked promissing going forward when he has played on the right side, varying up crosses and cut backs well.

Clearly not rated or trusted by Poch.

Why is there so much hype around this guy from our fans?

He probably is overhyped, I'll give you that. But I think the thing for me is that the way Poch wants the fullbacks to play, Trippier has never been suited to. Even at his best he was still unsuitable for the role. Therefore I think a lot of people, myself included, would rather see KWP given a chance, especially wit hhow poorly Trippier has been all season I suppose the question is whether KWP could do any worse. Admittedly, the answer may be yes, a lot worse, but it seems odd that a player who has shown quite a lot of potential in the games he has been given, seems to be almost frozen out of the team at times, with us choosing to play e.g. Foyth out of position at RB rather than give KWP a chance. Just seems a bit odd. Especially when you consider that Foyth is actually younger than KWP as well so it's not even a case of not wanting to chuck a young player into the frying pan.

It just seems a bit weird the way KWP has been treated by the club.

KWP should go for his own benefit. Treated quite poorly by Poch. Has rarely fucks up horribly when he plays like Trippier does on a routine basis yet he cant get close to the side. Now he has a CB ahead of him for god knows what reason. He should go.

KWP could even have been an option to play right midfield while we have had so many injuries but he hasn't even been given a chance there. Real mixed messages from Poch on this one. New contract, regular squad place and won't loan him out, but then refuses to play him. Very strange situation.

I just don't understand what the coaching staff's plan is for him. He was one of the best young players in England a few years ago, but in the last two years has played about 6 or 7 competitive matches a year. What is the pathway for progression and improvement for him if he isn't exposed to any competitive football? If we won't loan him out and won't play him, why not at least let him play some U-23 games to keep or develop some match sharpness.

To my eyes, his shortcomings are primarily speed of thought and decision-making. I fundamentally think those shortcomings require exposure to the speed, intensity, and unpredictability of competitive football to improve. I still think he has great technical qualities and could become a very good player in time, so I don't want to sell him. I hope we loan him out to a lower-level PL team or a decent Championship team to get experience.
