As players I can only truly think of Mackay, Perryman, Jennings, Mabbutt and Greaves who could be put in the same category as King as true Spurs legends. For him to share that company shows what an outstanding servant to the Club he was as a player, and continues to be today.

Three things spring to mind when Michael Dawson thinks of Ledley King.

1. He's better than me.
2. How could I be as good as him?
3. I wish he was back as the other incumbents cannot cover my ass sufficiently.

Very high on anyone's list i guess. Perhaps i should have added Mullery and Jones. Hoddle was great but no, not a legend in my sense of the word.

I respectfully disagree on Hoddle. But interesting in knowing why you don't consider him a legend...

You have me absolutely seething here, gammon!

Hoddle is as much of a legend as anyone who has played for this club. The most technically gifted player we have ever had.

He was a bums off seats, genuine genius. Goals, vision and a passer of the like we will probably never see again. It's not even a debate, it's all on tape for review.

I am going to have a lay down to try and lower my anger levels.

Well, i can't say that he was not a truly gifted player. But i would personally put Ardiles in front of him myself.

We all have our best un's but for as good and maybe as great as Hoddle was in my opinion he was still not good enough to sit at the top table. Pretty close though.

What puts Mabbutt, Perryman and Ardiles ahead of him? You are surely blinded by a dislike for him as a person?

All three forementioned players have at some time (and still are) Ambassadors for this great Club of ours. I would consider Hoddle a great player but not (in my humble opinion) a legend.

Because i think this way, that does not mean that i have a 'blinded dislike for him as a person", any more than by omitting say Chivers, Allen or Villa.

"Sorry Mate" but my first game was watching Greaves play for Spurs against Liverpool (i think in 65) and have seen every major semi-final and final that we have ever played since then. Also a season ticket holder for most of that period.

Sorry to piss on your fire old bean............but your just a shit Ramos.

Alright mate, it was only a question.

But I am hearing you. It is for non-footballing reasons. Which I am fine with. Because as footballers, most of the players you mentioned aren't even in the same ball park. :)

Wow you beat me by three years and I know when I first saw Greaves score, away at QPR Feb 1968 no I think about it, but if you think Mullery was better than Hoddle good luck to you.

Well, your question was a bit loaded in thinking that i had a personal dislike for Hoddle. For example i personally dislike Maradona and for that "Hand Of God" goal, but still think that he is second to Pele and just in front of Best as the best player to lace boots and play the game.
