seems like we are going to go with

pickford
walker
stones
cahill
trippier
henderson
rose
alli
lingard
sterling
kane

Im okish with that. the only mad thing is Southgate picking henderson as the defensive midfielder. He's got zero positional discipline, which is pretty much the the prerequisite for that role. If he starts strolling up the pitch (as I suspect he will) then the defence will really be exposed. Dier should be the choice but the thoughts in the media is he will go with henderson, which will be a mistake and drag down the rest of the team. Very frustrating because with Dier there, the side might actually work.

If we have the right conditioning, and first 45minutes, we can do pretty well I think.

Bit annoying so many papers are leaking the team ahead of the first game. They just can’t help but try and undermine the England team, can they?

From what I've read so far the England camp are being very open and inviting to journalists and media - you'd think that the newspapers would want to build on that rather than risking destroying it.

I would too, but I’ll never underestimate their ability to put themselves above the needs of the national team. Maybe Southgate is pulling a fast one. We shall see.

Young, Maguire and Henderson starting apparently. I have to say I have no idea how Young is preferred to Rose, and I think Cahill did well against Nigeria. I can understand Henderson over Dier.

I can't. The best thing about Henderson is that the clown in charge of Liverpool keeps picking him thus assisting us with finishing above Liverpool each season. Henderson is painfully average and shouldn't be anywhere near the England squad, let alone being picked to play. It's absurd.

As for Dier he has become a little bit of a scapegoat at Spurs. He isn't a Michael Carrick but he is still a very good player who has been the pivot in an engine that has secured three top four finishes in the last three seasons. He is comfortably the best option England have at DM, even though I still think his best position is in the centre of a back three.

All of this aside I'd be more than happy if no Spurs players played and England crashed out of the group stage. Our boys need a rest.

It's just a ruse to get the media to press a false line up to throw the Tunisian team off. Harry Kane is actually starting in goal today

Ah fuck, just watched Three Lions on YouTube and now I'm starting to believe again... The old emotional sweetspot.

I mean, I know we've got a callow, potentially error ridden defence and keeper, no real ability to dictate from midfield, and a totally unproven manager in the heat of battle, but maybe, just maybe they can blitzkrieg this WC with pace and energy, and overpower teams.

I guess we'll see tonight...
