I'm buzzing we didn't sell Toby to a rival. At least we put down a marker there. I know we would of had they offered a huge sum, but I'm glad we gave them no encouragement and acted like a big Club.

The market is fucking daft, levy getting slated but he's a genius. Keeping all our key players, and getting most of them on improved contracts was the most important thing.

I'm sure we would of liked Martial, but we're obviously somewhat restricted given the larger picture concerning the stadium.

Fuck wasting money on players we don't really want just to appease a bunch of fucking babies on here who want some instant gratification around deadline day - and I include myself in that, but I'm standing back and appreciating the bigger picture now.

All the more sweet when we rip it up this season without spending wildly in the transfer market. We'll have that little gem to throw at the rest of them now!

Will Toby be staying? A lot on here assume he will be, but some of the info from @Trix suggested he might move abroad. Still 3 weeks for that to happen.

@Hercules has heard that's not the case now and he is back in the fold, so hopefully that's the case.

I have seen a few posters going on about how Chelsea have strengthened this window, that's only going to be the case if they keep all their star players. I'm very sceptical that will be the case.

If Poch has made peace with Toby and Rose, and we hold onto Dembele we will be marginally stronger than last season options wise. Doesn't excuse the failure of the window, but it's not all doom and gloom if we keep everyone.

I genuinely think we will be fine. Sessegnon was the player we were linked with that excited me.

It’s why I’m gutted Fulham came up. I think we might have got him if they hadn’t.

Agree. The only players that really excited me this window, was Sess and Martial. Once Fulham got promoted, Sess was impossible according to multiple ITKs. Martial would always be a case of letting Toby go the other way, and keeping him is great (especially if he's fully back in the fold, and signs a new contract).

I'm happy we didn't end up spending on Barrios or other B/C options, just for the sake of it. Happy not to have massively overpaid for Zaha as well.

Grealish would have been a fine addition, but I suspect we might revisit that one later on.

I may be in the minority. But i am not that bothered we didnt sign anyone. We arent going to win the league. i think we are in a holding pattern of just trying to stay in the champions league. We need to bed into the new stadium. We have our manager on a long contract. Our best player on a long contract and hopefully more of our players signing soon.

what i dont get is all the posters saying the players will be furious we didnt sign anyone? Most will probably be feeling pretty good today. Their spot isnt under threat. There is no bedding in period for new players and we have another seaon where the core of the team has stayed together. It would have been nice to get a superstar to go into the new stadium with. But for whatever reason we didnt want to pay the cost or the player wasnt available.

If we win big tomorrow the whole window shambles goes away. If we lose. I fear for this place!

I think like the club, you’re taking top four for granted.

We have the most players out of anyone who reached the latter stages of the World Cup. Plus are still utterly reliant on Eriksen and most of our CM have injury problems.

Im not taking it for granted. i am looking at our football over the last three years with the squad we have got. nothing to suggest the players wont improve again. We have players with a year and a full pre season under their belts. If we get off to a good start at the new stadium and turn it into a fortress like we did at Wembley. Then we have every right to think we can make the top 4. Have the teams below us last year really bought that much quality? Man United finished above us and Mourinho is clearly looking for a way out. They were terrible last year and still scrambled 2nd i dont think it will happen again. We have as much chance of finishing top 4 as Chelsea Arsenal and Man united. think Liverpool and Man City will be streets ahead.

Thanks for that snippet @Trix. Hopefully a new contract would signal intent but that may be pushing it a bit far :cautious:

Could not agree more Trix. Re Toby, we will soon see.
