I don't think it's a surprise to hear we are unlikely to sign anyone at this stage of play. Fingers crossed as i feel one player in would lift a lot of negativity across media & fans.

I am surprised that Schalke do business with us. Didn't Levy let them loan Bentaleb with a option to purchase him based on appearances and they ended up having to pay 16 million for him. (Back in the day when 16 million would actually get you more than a backup keeper from the Championship)

Two loan outgoings don't make much sense, they free up squad places for 5 months, but we will encounter the same registration/HG issues in the summer when they return (unless obligation to buy is inserted in loan clause)

All loan deals do now is lessen our wage bill and reduce the number of players available to us.

PS. I know Janssen is surplus to Poch requirements, but a loan deal makes no sense without obligation to buy

Janssen and GKN has no real bearing on the squad IMHO, so getting them out on loan is a shop window at least. Hopefully Janssen will have a buy obligation in there if he goes to Schalke.

Dembele does weaken the squad, however Winks and Sissoko have stepped up to cover his minutes much better than anyone would have anticipated last summer.

I doubt anyone would accept an obligation to buy clause on a player who's hardly kicked a ball in months.

Might as well free up spaces when we can and with the expected departures of Llorente and Vorm with their contracts expiring we have plenty of free spots to make some summer signings

BBC reporting Crouch to Burnley so guess of the two Cardiff seems the most likely
