This is it. CDM, RB and CB. While he might not be master of any currently, his utility lies in his utility and that can often allow a club to invest in other more needy places in a squad

Yep, agree that Dier is useful as a versatile squad player (and on field leader). However, if he wasn't happy to be seen as a versatile squad player and wanted to be a starting midfielder, then i wouldn't be adverse to him leaving given the right sort of fee. He's one of those players that fans like and wouldn't want to see playing against us in the PL, but if we get the targets that are spoken about then he doesn't start many games and that would be tough at his age. He'd command quite a decent fee as well so given that he's not 'home grown' i'd be surprised if the idea of offloading him (if a big bid came in) wasn't given a lot of thought. In an ideal world where all our players are happy and we've shed loads of money, i'd rather have him with us than against us.

From who?
Hercules has been vocal on Eriksen being set on Madrid but will more than likely sign a four year deal with us subject to ‘realistic clauses’. With Zidane being keen on Pogba, the pursuit of Eriksen has cooled and he’s not indicated a desire to play elsewhere

If and when we get the N’Dombele deal over the line it should be the catalyst for others to follow as it shows real intent to both target and obtain quality players.
