Not trying to dig you out particularly but this 'feeling' that we will miss out on our transfer targets is basically down to you (and plenty of others that feel the same way) and absolutely nothing to do with what is/has been going on. For example, you say you are feeling worried because it seems (to you) we 'only look for players once the window opens' but this feeling has absolutely no basis in fact as it is well documented that we have quite clearly tracked, enquired and made actual bids for both Sessengnon and Ndombele in previous transfer windows. So your unease (and again, not trying to dig you out here !) is purely down to you either not realising this, or being swayed by others pessimism.

To make you feel a bit better i would suggest that despite the obvious worry about 'bigger' clubs hijacking any deals we might be attempting, the fact is that both Sess and NDom know that Poch wants them, they know that they have been long term targets and they know that poch hasn't wavered in his desire to acquire these two players even after failed bids/knock backs and another seasons worth of football (& in Sess case, a drop in form). Things like that could make all the difference in a 50/50 decision between Spurs and another 'bigger' club.

Just to add a small bit too this, I think a lot of people seem to downplay the significance of us reaching a CL final. That coupled with all the above and our new stadium makes us a much better prospect to these players than we were 12 months ago.

You're right but IMO the difficulty is not convincing the players to sign for us. It's agreeing a fee with the selling clubs.

Yep, agree with that. It does seem that although Levy is 'only' driving a hard bargain in the best interests of the club, driving too hard a bargain is actually detrimental and not in the best interests of the club. On the flip side, as a club who works within a set budget, striving for the best deal each time clearly gives us the best possible chance of completing the most amount of deals. However my overriding feeling is that Levy hasn't got the balance right yet.

I must admit I know the talk has been positive but I'm not really feeling it at the moment. Given we have been inactive in the market for so long but now "have the money" I'm not sure why we weren't lining people up throughout the season and then securing the signings as the window opened.

Granted I understand you can't make all signings early but if we have key areas we wanted address and a list of players with plenty of money I'm not sure why we are a month in without much going on (aside from a bit of ITK)

Starting to feel a bit familiar as it seems we only start looking for players when the window is open!!

We made a £53m bid if that helps.

We are so close its amazing. Daniel i really appreciate what you have done and the way you have brought this beautiful club back to where it belongs. Fighting for titles and playing the right way. This is the window to take that big step and possibly define our clubs history for the next 20 years and to Elevate us to be one of the biggest clubs in not just england but Europe. I think Poch reconiges this also. COYS.

As someone who watched the '84 Uefa final as a teenager and who held a season ticket from the Gerry Francis era to (unfortunately not including) the poch era, this is exactly how i feel. BUT, if things stayed roughly the same as they are now, i.e top 4 finishes, pushing leaders close some seasons, getting into semi finals and finals, then i honestly would be pretty happy.

I'll probably get slated for that view, but unless you've been through the seemingly never ending shit times, when getting absolutely smashed at home by the top teams was the norm, when going the inevitable goal down away from home meant certain defeat (usually by wide margins) and when teams like West Ham and Fulham would play you off the park at home, with skillful players that ran rings round most of yours, then you probably don't get how lucky fans are these days - even if we are only 'very close' and not actually 'there' yet.

Yes, i have supported this team from 89, so bar that first period including 91 cup final i have seen some crap so am delighted with current team and manager. But lets not stop or settle here now.

I wouldnt write a player off based on one persons inside knowledge, just because people are itk doesn't mean they have good scouting ability and if the club think hes worth developing then you'd expect something there.
I really wish I could say more about this!

you will find it's 2 weeks old but never mind. as Hercules said it's going to be a busy next few weeks, but with Sessengnon and Lo Celso away at tournaments which might go into July. please remember people ITK pass info on from sources not from the bald horses mouth. they see we are being busy, but being busy doesn't mean every 1 of those that do sign, if any will be doing it in those few weeks.

If we are to get Sessengnon and Lo Celso I don't expect them to be announced till they are finished their tournaments. the only 1 that might be announced before July will be Ndombele as the Lyon chairman wants to try for the end of this month

There’s every possibility that both Sessegnon ad Lo Celso have had medicals done already. ( at the events , their at).
Therefore will be announced when the tournaments are over .

There's the possibility that Ana De Armas is on her way over to my house ready to satisfy my every urge. Doesn't mean it's likely to happen.

With the caveat being that none of this matters unless you actually sign the players, this seems to be one of our most orderly transfer windows ever.

As confirmed by both reliable and various journalists and ITKs we have three identified priority signings. 2 are young established internationals in dire positions of need. The third is an extremely young long time target who projects to take over for an important older outfield player (Rose) in the coming years.

We’ve been linked to all the players since mid-May or earlier and appear to be talking with their clubs about prices. This would further indicate they are not contingent on outgoing, especially considering how quiet it is on that front.

Even though we quite clearly need a RB. It does make sense that we will proceed carefully on that front. Ironically it’s the position the club has most depth, but least top level quality. And we probably have about 175k a week in wages committed to Trippier, Aurier, and KWP. Unless we are able to sell the first two I bet the club will be forced to grit and bear keeping them for next season.

Overall, if what seems to be happening is actually happening then I think it’s one of our most rational summers yet. We’re in negotiation with our top targets in mid-June. And the targets are high quality in clear positions of need. That’s much better than normal.

Now, we just have to execute. Otherwise it’s meaningless.
