If Hercules is hinting at Sessegnon being one of the three then I guess we aren't doing a double deal for both brothers.

I have a gut feeling Sess will be the first through the door, followed by N'Dombele and Lo Celso. Which would tie in with Hercs latest info of 3 priorities in.

That’s how I’m reading it. Three players targeted immediately, regardless of any outgoings. You’d assume TN and GLC based on all the ITK and media talk to date, because these are areas that currently have gaps. Add to that probably RS. Then the fourth player, sounds a development punt maybe?
Then other areas like RB dependant on selling someone. Where further sales are made, space will be freed up and further signings able to be made. We aren’t likely to be adding another RB whilst we have KT, SA and KWP in situ.

An absolutely reasonable approach to take from the club. We need to stop waiting for everything to click into place (for example Eriksen or others leaving). To be proactive with the three main targets is exactly what is required. Get them in by July and it's perfectly understandable that the rest is dependent on sales with the large outlay. The icing on the cake can wait until the end of the window.

It's just now a case of executing the plan which we will find out about in the next couple of weeks.

It's obvious who two of the three targets are and it seems like Sessegnon is number three with all the paper talk.

Logical inference suggests no right back will be brought in until Trippier and or Aurier are moved on and that anything else (forward, DM?) is dependent on the rest.

I'm not confident we'll be able to shift everyone, probably half the list is what we should expect. But don't forget we have decisions to make on quite a few youngsters (Onomah, Edwards, CCV, Amos) and selling some of those could net us a few quid.

I'll be pretty happy if we can get the main three in and replace one of the right backs. Ecstatic if we can add a DM and forward to that as well.

Yeah, or maybe go back to Fulham on loan. Either way it would be pedantic of me to try and argue that he would make it four players in if it did happen.

Agreed.

Steven Sessegnon is a bit of an unknown quantity as he's only ever played 2 senior level games (I think).

If it wasn't for his twin brother, he'd be a 'Kion Etete' style signing; basically one for the future that would slot into the academy with minimal fan-fare.

I believe so too... It will be between Sess and ndombele in first but seems easier with sess.

I must admit I know the talk has been positive but I'm not really feeling it at the moment. Given we have been inactive in the market for so long but now "have the money" I'm not sure why we weren't lining people up throughout the season and then securing the signings as the window opened.

Granted I understand you can't make all signings early but if we have key areas we wanted address and a list of players with plenty of money I'm not sure why we are a month in without much going on (aside from a bit of ITK)

Starting to feel a bit familiar as it seems we only start looking for players when the window is open!!

Love all the positive ITK! Would love three new faces sorted ahead of pre season!

Being a pessimist however I am thinking the longer we go on without concluding the deals for the main targets the less likely they are to happen...

Feels that way but I think we have our targets identified and its then a combination of we are unwilling to pay the initial high premium the selling club wants for them or the players are weighing up their options before committing to us. Aulas said he wants a Pogba fee for Ndombele which I guess is around £85m but we aren't going to pay that so it drags on. The Betis player has a buy out clause but we aren't going to pay that so it drags on. I'm not saying we should pay the premium but if we did possibly the deal between the two clubs would be done a lot quicker.

But as you know the longer it drags the more likely it wont happen or another club will just come in. Then were the fuck are we if we cant get the main 2. Poch would walk.

Someone I know close to this, said they didn't think Stephen was good enough for us. So I sort of hope we don't get both.

Seems no harm in getting both in this scenario, players develop at different rates

I'd like to think things will really heat up this week. They'd certainly need to if we want players in for pre season - which we know is hugely important for Poch.

I wouldnt write a player off based on one persons inside knowledge, just because people are itk doesn't mean they have good scouting ability and if the club think hes worth developing then you'd expect something there.

What's the point of gut feelings in an ITK discussion thread?

At least ITK is supposed to be based on some form of Knowledge.

So for example when Hercules posts, we can assume that it's not guesswork, even though for any number of good reasons things may not work out the way the info suggests.

But gut feelings? Come on.

Hope with the sales money we go for a rb ASAP and forward that can come in for Kane so then we can keep our best players in their natural positions, e.g Son, yeah he's great at CF but he's deadly af at LAM.

Not trying to dig you out particularly but this 'feeling' that we will miss out on our transfer targets is basically down to you (and plenty of others that feel the same way) and absolutely nothing to do with what is/has been going on. For example, you say you are feeling worried because it seems (to you) we 'only look for players once the window opens' but this feeling has absolutely no basis in fact as it is well documented that we have quite clearly tracked, enquired and made actual bids for both Sessengnon and Ndombele in previous transfer windows. So your unease (and again, not trying to dig you out here !) is purely down to you either not realising this, or being swayed by others pessimism.

To make you feel a bit better i would suggest that despite the obvious worry about 'bigger' clubs hijacking any deals we might be attempting, the fact is that both Sess and NDom know that Poch wants them, they know that they have been long term targets and they know that poch hasn't wavered in his desire to acquire these two players even after failed bids/knock backs and another seasons worth of football (& in Sess case, a drop in form). Things like that could make all the difference in a 50/50 decision between Spurs and another 'bigger' club.

Wrong choice of words, was just sharing my opinion of which of the three priorities would be completed first due to ease of the deal. But you’re right, wrong thread for that.

Herc’s update was very informative though, if it all pans out I’ll be really happy with the change of transfer model because this would be new territory for the club.
