I choose to believe that it means Carefree Expenditure.

The naming rights thing is interesting. I wonder what sort of money that could pull in?

I think he means to let them go for free. So Spurs lose the player, dont get a transfer fee, but are released from paying the rest of the contract.
If a player is in contract and you release them, they can ask for the full value of their contract, so you can't bank on not having to pay them their wages. You could negotiate a settlement to cancel the contract, but it's not a case of simply ending the contract and not having to pay.

I disagree. The way he’s handled his issues has been first class and inspirational. Also the way he’s knuckled down and improved is great.

Plus him drinking a bottle of beer on the pitch after the Semi will be a lasting memory.
Agree. I thought his actions were typical throwing a strop to get more money but after seeing him interviewed recently I have a new found respect for him. He's candid, to the point and has a good head on him. I think he'd be a great role model.

He is definitely cut from a different mould than your regular footballer - in an age of media training, he seems unafraid to say what's actually on his mind.

Would the clauses being referred to be to do with Real Madrid coming back in or am I misinterpreting that? Eriksen staying not impacting potential transfers is great to hear too, need to get a squad deep in quality, not just slightly upgrading on Eriksen with 2 players.

You can't just release them. They are owed their salary until the end of their contracts. Well, technically we can release them but would still have to pay what they are owed. We'd then be doing ourselves out of backup players and possible future transfer fees.
If we offer them up for sale at a very low fee, say about £100K (although I’d think that Levy would want a bit more), then I think there might be a few takers. It would be better than releasing them.

I think the reason that there are currently no interested parties is because the fees that we are asking (don’t know what the figures are though), may not be attractive for any other club.

Don’t want to get in trouble. So I will say this once, and comment no further! As I believe it is imperative to KILL talk ‘it will effect our spending’ IT WILL NOT!!!
Give it a couple of days and people will start on about our lack of funds again.
It's a narrative that, no matter what you say, some folk cant help but stick with.

It's so refreshing to see the same people posting the same onions about Bale as they did the last time there was ITK about him. It's a real tonic on a gloomy day. I can only hope posting the same things over and over again are equally as stimulating for your good selves.

I also hope you've been clever enough to have a file marked 'Bale' in which you thoughts are written so that you just have to copy and paste it rather than go through the tedious business of writing it all down time after time.

Bunch of wazzocks.
Be nice to see rose staying

I did wonder that, I thought possibly a buy out clause but if that is it our Daniel won't half make it a big one.

Really glad to see latest ITK indicates Rose wants to sign a new contract!

I hope the club feels the same and offers him a new deal, I know recently he indicated we perhaps look at players over 28 differently but personally feel he still has a lot to offer and would be mad to let him go.

If we sign Sessegnon he can play further up and Davies can play left centre back so gives nice flexible options!

To be fair we did hear pretty much exactly the same thing at this time last year and that didn't pan out so well. There's a reason that some folk can't help but stick with that 'narrative', years and years of experiencing the trials and tribulations of transfer windows as a Tottenham fan. They almost always start with expectations and optimism sky high which gradually dissipates as we get closer to the end of the window. Let's hope this year really is different.

Yup - true.
However, from the various press reports, I’m pretty sure that either available for free would get snapped up quickly. Shame is that Levy (old Levy) doesn’t throw away money... ITK seems to suggest the “facts” we are used to may not still be the case this summer!

CE! The reports coming out about considering a new 4 year contract with us is true. It is all about the minefield of clauses. It will not deter our quest to bring in two midfielders, which is well documented. Danny Rose wants a new contract. It is all about what he expects, and what we would possibly offer. No buyers at present for VJ, and GK.
Not sure how I'd feel about Eriksen staying - he drifted into oblivion 2nd half of the season. Would rather freshen up the stale attack.

We lost 19 games in 18/19...

Maybe he'll rediscover his mojo with some competition brought in.

Rose - I'd like to see stay, but with someone who can cross brought in too.

Yeah, I get what you're saying but this is more about the fact that we don't have to sell, to have the money to buy. We certainly have money, without having to sell our top assets.
Whether or not we can manage to buy is a different kettle of fish.

True. It doesn't really fit with Levy's way of doing things to do a nominal or no-fee transfer. But who knows, maybe if Poch tells him there's no way he'll play them, Levy may surprise us. :)
