It amazes me that people think there is such a thing as a value equation lol. The value is decided by what someone is willing to pay and what someone is willing to sell for. Yes eiksen might be in the last year of his contract in the summer but you might have 4 teams that want to sign him or you might have none. A team might be willing to pay a fortune or would rather wait for another year and get him on a free. Eriksen might want to run his contract down hoping to get a bigger signing on fee. Who knows? Us putting a price on him is just guess work.
And you might have only one club the player is willing to join.

I get what you're saying but my point is more towards more that they're spurs fans annoyed if we aren't getting Coutinho or Neymar money and it's simply not going to happen.

To be fair we haven't sold any of our top players that we've wanted to keep for some time now (we were happy to sell Walker).

Only because Real Madrid haven't really gone for any of our team. If they wanted any of our top players, there would be a Marca campaign and attempts to unsettle the player followed by a huge offer and Levy rushing to buy the players ticket to Spain.

The only reason I believe Marca aren't campaigning is because they know that they don't need to win Levy over. Levy will entertain an offer from Madrid for him if they come calling. This is different to the Modric situation as I don't think he had a year left to run on his contract.

It’s completely different to Modric. Modric had kicked off the year before after Levy refused a big offer from Chelsea. IIRC he was promised he could go the following season is he played 1 more year and kept his gob shut.

Ahem, Levy gets the other team to pay for the ticket

Has anyone thought that Eriksen maybe waiting to see who the next manager of Real Madrid is before jumping ship? He comes across as thinking about his career moves carefully.
With the current climate of their struggles it maybe all change again before the start of next season. That may hopefully affect his thinking and stop him from moving. It seems that he is happy to sign a new contract if he doesn't get the dream move he wants. With uncertainty about the manager that may help us. Fingers crossed it works in our favour.

indeed , or he may be waiting to find out who the Spurs manager will be next season!

As if Daniel Levy bases his decisions on the headlines in Marca...

Much prefer having reality bite early rather than watch YouTube highlights for a month and the debate

Wow. 5 people actually disagree that if Madrid really went all out to get any of our top players they would succeed. Wake up. Shove a silly amount of money at Levy and launch a campaign to unsettle the player which includes getting their agent and family to pressure them and that player is going to be playing against Barcelona and Valencia in the league pretty soon after.

When has levy sold a player that didn't want to leave?
