Has anyone thought that Eriksen maybe waiting to see who the next manager of Real Madrid is before jumping ship? He comes across as thinking about his career moves carefully.
With the current climate of their struggles it maybe all change again before the start of next season. That may hopefully affect his thinking and stop him from moving. It seems that he is happy to sign a new contract if he doesn't get the dream move he wants. With uncertainty about the manager that may help us. Fingers crossed it works in our favour.

If he has always wanted to play for Real Madrid, do you really think he cares about who the next manager is?

If Eriksen leaving is inevitable, I'd rather he went in this window for a higher price than he could command in summer, with some of the money reinvested straight away.

£100M + Isco on loan would do it for me. Or £80M + Modric permanently.

Agreed the longer he is with us without signing a new deal the cheaper he will go for!

If Eriksen goes this window, it will properly fuck our season.
All these ratings are tempting me to edit in something horrendously controversial.

Wouldn't it be lovely if just for once when a mega club comes calling for one of our star players we tell them to do one and counter by bidding for one of their players. I know its dreamland but how about Eriksen signing a new contract and us buying Isco ?

Are you certain that our players never tell these clubs to do one? Because I imagine every super club has tried to have a word in Dele and Kane’s ears over the past four seasons.

To be fair we haven't sold any of our top players that we've wanted to keep for some time now (we were happy to sell Walker).
Naturally we will sell players just as any other club will. It's just that we're a top club now so of course they will leave for the best clubs.
What I would like is to be sure we get our replacement in first. Eriksen wont kick up a fuss I'm sure so we should be able to do this. If not Isco then someone else officially signed before a sale. Real Madrid did let us do that when we sold Bale to them. If we sell a top player it must either be abroad, or if another Premier League club we get a player of equal quality in return from them.

Fingers crossed they sign Hazard then, that's our only hope of keeping Eriksen from the sounds of it...

My Chelsea supporting friend (feels wierd to say) seems to think that the Hazard to Madrid deal is already sorted for the summer and Pulisic was part of the move for replacements.

I also worry with the idea we might get Isco. There was talk of all the players we might get coming in the other direction during the Bale deal and the cold hard fact seemed to be that Madrid players don't want to come here for numerous reasons...

We are a different proposition now then when Bale left, though still doesn't mean shit!

Levy slapped a £225 price tag on Eriksen so if it's not going to be cash it will be Asensio, Modric, Isco & Bale (permanently). And then during the negotiations, once Daniel moves the goal posts, there'll be a few other perks & bonuses.

Maybe when we've cut down our debt a bit (rumoured to be over £500m now).

It amazes me the amount of football fans who can't grasp contract length in the value equation.

It amazes me that people think there is such a thing as a value equation lol. The value is decided by what someone is willing to pay and what someone is willing to sell for. Yes eiksen might be in the last year of his contract in the summer but you might have 4 teams that want to sign him or you might have none. A team might be willing to pay a fortune or would rather wait for another year and get him on a free. Eriksen might want to run his contract down hoping to get a bigger signing on fee. Who knows? Us putting a price on him is just guess work.
