It's a pretty simple one as far as Dembele is concerned. If we replace him with someone who is better now (not potentially better) then selling is fine. If we don't, it's a pisstake.
Well it is the area that Poch knows and we know we need to replenish. We won't get rid if we don't have someone lined up. Guaranteed.

Regarding Dembele, I think this also shows the of tactics that Poch may be planning. I think we may see a 4-3-3 with one DM behind two with Eriksen being one and maybe even Dele the other.

Sexy.

So confused by all this ITK!

Players better than Dembele aren't generally available. Which is why it would be a coup to keep him.

Absolutely right, players of his quality aren't generally available. I can't see why it would be a coup to keep him though, it would just be 'par' wouldn't it? It's up to us whether we sell.

Thanks for the ITK. Sorry to possibly loose Dembele, but if I rememeber correctly he won’t get a new contract with us due to his physical condition. So good for him.

ITK makes me berry happy.

True but we all know his best days are behind him - we might not be able to get a player as good, but we could get a player with the potential to become as good or even better. I love Dembele but he has glaring weaknesses in his game - lack of penetration, lack of goals, etc. I don't know how many times I've shouted at him to pass the bloody ball or shoot. We might not be able to do better, but perhaps we can get a player who will fulfill an important role in our new shape.

He's a special player. I'd rather have him available to play and influence younger talent than be somewhere else doing it for someone else, especially in the Premier League.

@Rout-Ledge dismissed a 'potential' signing. I would be more open to that.

I tend to agree, the only way this is acceptable is if it allows us to bring in 2x CMs, one of those being a high quality CM who can have as much influence, and if it allows us to go in heavy for a Martial type. This won't be the case I doubt.

I was told 2 in & 2 out. One was Grealish in (today), the medical that was planned. I quietly confident we will do 2 deals, as per Trix’s information. Just to add to that. We really are serious about Martial, and will hold our main funds for that, and this window.

If we cannot do that deal, we will not waste it on same area, lesser player. In the last 48 hours, some very good names in desperation being put to us. But! Also to our rivals. Some we were interested before, but they through their agents, was hedging their bets. Today’s work is about finding out if we will be wasting our time, our selling clubs playing games on price and structure.

If this is the case, we will hold out on just the 2 players. Poch berry happy with that.

I think this is the most cogent post I've ever seen from Herc.

Can only mean Martial is a goer imho.

So far so good, waiting for the bad news as this is SC and we are due some. This transfer has done my head in. One minute its great the next its like a kick in the knackers

Dembele potentially leaving is pretty bad news. The fee doesn't really matter. There's very few players I look at on the teamsheets and think they'll match him. Even Kovacic I wouldn't expect to come in and have the same impact on our play as he does.

Ideally, we'll keep Dembele for a year and get a top class CM now.

Firstly: The fact a bid has even been made never mind accepted = Dembele’s camp have given indication to said club they would be willing to move/have already agreed terms. Let’s not be naive in thinking a bid has come out of the blue & start asking ourselves will he want to move FFS.

Secondly: I liked the sound of him moving to Fulham more than City. He is a top man and owes us nothing, but tar it whatever way you like, we are helping a side we hope to be mixing it with once more. (If it is City)

ITK on Dembele. My favourite ever player and that's over 40 years watching Spurs but there comes a time when it ends and I think it might be the right time now. He can't play regularly enough and should go get a decent pay day before he has to retire.

From this, do we understand that it’s 2 in 2 out with the potential of Martial as a 3. But, we have been offered some very interesting targets that if actually available for a reasonable price may mean it’s more then 2 in.

Goat said clearly that the bid has been accepted

A bird in the hand is worth two in the rumoured bush. Depends on how you gamble and how it pays off.

Initially I read the middle bit as we'd been offered players but we wouldn't bite as we are all in on Martial. Now I agree it probably means a potential bonus signing, as he then mentioned we have to scope out today whether it's a genuine possibility (and not agent desperation). Could be something to watch out for later.

Exactly how i interpreted it. 2 in 2 out but would do Martial if we can agree something as he is the one Poch wants.

At the moment it stands at 0 in and 0 out. With so much that can happen in the next day and a half I hope people realise nothing is set in stone just yet.

Apart from the stadium. Hopefully that's set in stone or we'll never get the safety certificate.
