This window feels like when you were on a night out much younger and spent most of the night doing the ground work on a girl who was a 10 but as it gets closer and closer to last orders (and she’s still talking about your mate with the flash car) you start to think, I’ll take that 7 (or 6) over there rather than nobody... (not that I ever did that)

The longer this drags on Grealish has turned from a ‘meh’ signing (the 7) to a 10 (well not quite but I’m sure you get the point).

Trying to stay positive but it’s difficult as I’m a firm believer in standing still is going backwards. Only thing I know is that work will be spent on Thursday constantly refreshing all the news out of pure desperation. The life of a Spurs fan!

None of this seems very ambitious going into that shiny new stadium. I thought we’d have gone for it this summer. Really feels like this team is stagnating now. We have some great players, the best team we’ve had for a generation. It’s going to really hurt if they fall apart now.
It almost feels that Levy is thinking if we can get in a kid or two potential that's all that's needed because the squad is so good and maturing. I think that's arrogant.

I mean two windows where it's last minute. Possibly one or no players this one. Last one only one player who really improved us last season. The guy is frankly taking the piss out of Poch if this is how this window plays out after last year.

After the experiences with Jol, Ramos, Redknapp and AVB I always get the feeling that Levy thinks "well, I'm paying you for results, so do the business with whatever I give you". I'm not saying that's true. But it's a gut feeling I have because I think, at least in the case of AVB and Poch, it feels like he likes hearing "cheap players, build youth prospects" during a job interview and then holds a manager to that as he goes along.

I mean, when was the last time Levy actually went out an bought a true proven talent to imrpove the squad? I honestly can't remember.

I don’t see how what I’ve posted contravenes that? All I said was that igi only ever posts itk when there’s an announcement that day, been the case as long as I remember. No sure why is deserved the spam rating you so graciously dished out, I never realised that making a comment on an itk in the itk thread was spam. Maybe I should’ve posted about net spend, HG and levy lacking ambition...
Mine was the doh rating. You seem to be inferring that because of this, igi's statement could be referring only to an announcement today, but he said "this window". I can change it to a disagree if you wish.

Pretty sure it was 150m and then any sales would be re-invested on top of that.

Either way, we’ve been led a merry dance by someone this window and it’s hard to swallow.
Absolutely right!, The figure of 150m was mentioned, with sales cash in addition.

Thankfully I misread what he said and instead of expecting a £200m+ spend I expected a window like normal where we spend what we earn. I'll probably be apoplectic though in 2 days.

Did any one notice/see ValYids post earlier ? Not sure if it was removed or deleted by admin or VY.

It was something along the lines of - "who said it is Levy who doesn't want to spend?"

in response to another posts annoyance as to why Levy hasn't spent...

I saw it. If not Levy it can surely only be Poch putting a stop to transfers? All very odd. Perhaps why it was deleted before everyone jumped on it.

Has igi ever provided any ITK other than 'announcement incoming ITK' before? Without discussing his source directly, it's reasonable to assume that what he's posted might just be someone's opinion, isn't it? Or am I just clutching at more straws than a masturbating scarecrow?

Of all the seasons not to bring in a marquee signing, go that extra mile, spend that extra bit of money, the club (so far) have chosen this season. The new stadium, the solidification of our top 4 status. I mean how could they not? What a missed opportunity.
Sounds like a digestive issue. A bit like this window

Having said that, I cling to the hope we will sign somebody (whether they are any good or are what we need is a different matter), it just seems like if we don’t it will be a massive missed opportunity and the media will launch into over that and it will detract from the opening of the stadium. Still hope the PR opportunity of someone decent with the scarf aloft on the new pitch doesn’t pass by.

I can only assume that Poch would rather not spend at all if Levy is unable to secure first choice options - in doing so avoiding a repeat of this window in the future where we are needing to shift players that are no longer needed before bringing in new signings. After all, it is what ITK have been saying all summer, it was never about the money, simply about having to many players on the wage bill.

Yeah I can't say I disagree with Poch if that is the case.

I'd imagine Levy has failed to deliver the targets he really wants and has offered him cheaper alternatives. Considering how difficult it's been to shift previous cheaper alternatives you really can't blame Poch for not wanting Levy to pursue them.

It doesn't mean he's totally happy with what he's got, as some people will no doubt try to suggest.

I love how some people are actually managing to talk themselves into saying that no signings is actually somehow a positive thing and that Poch is content and has decided not to spend any money. Mental.
Yeah. That Poch has not been backed early is in of itself already a failure of Levy's given the pre-season issue. If we get one or no players then that is a failure as well. You can't dress it up. He backed the early transfer window closure knowing it wouldn't apply to Europe, in a world cup year no less, and he has not backed his manager properly now for two windows now in my opinion by leaving things until the last minute, and possibly even not bringing in someone this summer.

I'm overall a Levy defender, but on this he should be criticised robustly. He's robbed us of chances for success too many times by not striking while the iron is hot in respect of transfers.

But don't worry. I'll sure he'll post another nice letter on the official website as Eriksen, Dele, etc decide not to sign new contracts because of no ambition.

I know you have to take ITK with a pinch of salt, but given the source of the latest and his track record I can't help but feel a bit cheesed off.

I will be furious if we only make one signing. A complete lack of ambition from the club if its true. Especially if its only Grealish (who I do like) who isn't the sort of world class player that we expected to open the new season with.

How do we expect to push for the title or even a domestic cup with nowhere near enough quality depth in the squad?

It's not a positive thing. It's also not the end of the world. I'm sure Poch is clever enough to see that. Spending for the sake of it won't solve any problems.

Seriously mate, apart from Liverpool which players sign by Prem clubs would it have been worth us signing?

Mahrez. That’s probably it

Fred at CM, Shaqiri and Richarlison would have been good bench options.

If it's only one in, how many out? Surely Dembele stays for sure.

i dont get how levy is ready and willing to spend and it's poch putting the brakes on when we apparently baulked at the zaha fee despite being told that poch rates him as the best winger in the league

Igi says just the one? Well, I guess that’s better than none!! On the flip side, Igi usually posts when the deal is pretty much done and dusted. So, might not be referring to the likes of Grealish or any other last minute deals. Unless he has been told by the powers that be, to only expect one announcement on deadline day. In which case... yeah, that full on blows.
