This ITK cannot be correct. The likes of Janssen, N’koudou, Llorente, Sissoko, Foyth - as well as departures of Toby, Dembele - lots of ways space could and would be freed up if it meant getting someone of Martial quality.

Only if we sell them.... Lack of bids for them suggest we won't shift them easily.

My take is that poch would rather the money than martial and use that money to buy a cm who is home grown. Grealish anyone? Maybe someone else aswell.

I imagine the hope was to sell Dembele and Sissoko as their wages are pretty high and GKN/Janssen are inconsequential. If they’re on 20K/wk that’s only about 1M/yr each in dead wages. Surely we wouldn’t turn down a player of Martials caliber/cost bc we couldn’t guaranty that we’d clear off 1M in salary.

Yeah this just doesn't make sense. Martial is pretty much the best player we've been linked to this window aside from Bale. I don't buy the financial argument either, as we've consistently been told his wages are actually quite low (circa 65k a week) and that we're now competitive in this area anyway.

Even if we have the opportunity to bring in bloody Modric in CM, you still don't turn down Martial. If we're so short in midfield, why have we not signed Grealish - he may not be a priority, but it sounds like we need more than one addition in midfield anyway.

Grealish supposedly not number 1 priority so I'd say a non HG central midfielder is top of the list. Ties in with the ITK we've just had.

But wasn't there ITK saying Grealish wasn't first choice? If he was I would have expected it to have moved closer if not done by now.

What's the point of a loan for these players though? Just to get them off the wage bill? Are clubs really going to offer to pay all of their wages once they know that they haven't been registered to play for us this season?

Yes just the wage bill. I agree that we are going to get roasted on these deals, but there has been reported interest in loans and that is a way to recover a little bit, free up space and take the opportunity to get in quality that may be available. Even the most optimistic would have to have foreseen this likelihood.

Ultimately however, I think levys budget is based on high (unrealistic) fees for outgoings and low (unrealistic) fees for incomings (see esp trix itk/opinion) , so is getting an almighty squeeze at the moment.

Cheers for whoring .... :)

It defo sounds like an excuse , just release N'kandou cut the loss , in long run for example not having martial but trying to recoup the 11m on nkandou is bad business and cost benefit is silly .... 11m loss on gkn but having martial who will play and will help us and poch would help improve him ... its a no brainer ... in business you take a loss now and again but your still in the red overall ... does feel like the spin from the club is underway big time ... ps thats no dig at the itk just the club
Why are so many people reading this wrong? Not saying that we turn down martial because we have Jansen et al. Saying we already have three we won’t register so bringing in another would mean someone else added to that list - and martial isn’t the priority non hg. Not saying I 100% buy the story but at least read it properly

I call BS we only have 17 foreign players in our squad. Get rid of Sissoko Janssen N’Koudou then that’s three foreign players we can sign. Dembele’s contract is up and the end of next season. That fact is we do things on the cheap so we end up buying two or three times. Should have signed Malcom in January. Levy is the luckiest chairman in the world Kane came through when we waisted money on two useless strikers.

It wouldn't surprise me if it's all just a negotiating tactic with Levy trying to get incoming and outgoing players to lower their wage demands before the end of the week.

Everything still to play for with 4 days left to go :nailbiting:. I'm going to reserve judgement until then before deciding whether to run into Levy's office wearing a suicide vest and carrying a bucket of novichok / getting his face tattooed on my chest . #whatsittobebaldy?
