Davies, Dier, Vorm, Fazio, and more than one. We're almost up to last summer's number.

Bit different though nonetheless, as last summer's seven aside from Vlad were each expected to provide immediate impact. All six of the remaining played in the league within a game of arriving. Davies has yet to feature in the league (may be awhile given Rose's current form), Vorm hasn't played at all and we've no idea when, and Dier has filled (the goal :sneaky:) while the CB and RB situations are a bit up in the air and we're reintegrating the WC players.

So IMO, even were two or three more signings to be done, it still wouldn't be comparable to last summer. Doesn't have the same element of change, and I think that's important for building our new foundation.

Spot on (y). This window couldn't be more different from the last. For a start we haven't just lost one of the world's best players and tried to replace him by buying a random selection of players, who while they may be decent individually, did not seem to fit in any way into a cohesive overall plan.

This summer, whether or not you agree with the individual signings, they at least seem to have been bought for a particular purpose, and I think at the end of this window we will no longer have a squad that is unbalanced and full of obvious glaring weak areas.

Last season felt like we had gone to the supermarket; bought beer, mustard, toilet duck and jelly babies and had come home and made them into soup.

Seems like even Daniel may be susceptible to the MoPo feel-good vibe.

Let's do shopping.
Did you see him smile taking the ALS challenge? Definitely succumbed to Poch's charms if you ask me. Good for everyone as it means DL will finally consider thinking about potentially looking at possibly signing the players the manager wants :barefoot:

I don't want to equal last year as much as much as 2010-11. Right now we have brought in 5 players and are net spend even.

We brought in 7 last year but made £10m. 12/13 we brought in more players at 8 but we still made £6m. 11/12 was 5 players and we made £30m. But back in the heady days of 2010/11, we net spent £17m on 5 players.

Oh wait, that's probably a foreign concept that needs explaining. Net spend is when you transfer in more than you tranfer out. I know it's considered a myth cooked up by the media, but it actually exists.

We've bought a complete defence.

Completely agree and I love the analogy. We did buy some very good players last summer, but they were not tailored to any sort of squad need or even role need, and the result of the season reflected it.

Would like to reemphasize I think your analogy brilliant. :playful:

we signed six players when avb came in, it's not an unreal amount. city & chelsea have both added 5 too - plus of those players only fazio & davies seemed to be signed as first teamers, vorm was always going to be backup & dier/yedlin were signed for the future

Is that what you read into Levy smiling? Like really? Fuck all to do then with the ice used being bought from The Levy Ice Company at a fiver a cube.

Are you seriously suggesting that Levy smiling is down to Poch? Seriously?

Ok, updated my pledges and donated £25 to cover Livermore, Defoe and Dawson going out and Fazio, Davies etc coming in.

Should keep @Parkie the pledge police happy too. ;)

Gards @Gards44 · 3m
@GazzehCOYS there are more on the horizon! Sorry for the meltdown have bad reception!!

Gards clearing things up from his previous tweet.

I reckon it will be MS and then we'll try again for MM.

There have been no other solid rumours

And the 3 things Poch himself has stated are i) no attacking players coming in, ii) Soldado going nowhere, iii) Townsend going nowhere, which assuming he plays with a straight bat, rules out a LWF.
