Almost feel sorry for Grealish if we drop the deal now.

On the other hand I do like the idea of a more ambitious target :cautious:

I remember Herc saying Grealish was our number 1 target ‘for that position’ - unless an opportunity elsewhere has arisen, I think we’re trying to bluff Villa.

Yeah, I’m sure he said that too.. This just stinks of us not liking their new price, if we hadn’t messed around at the start we would have got him cheaper than we will/may get him now. No wonder there’s a lot of us pissed off.

A lot of assumptions being made since Trix dropped his last post.

Let's not get carried away. We may not be messing the player around, for all we know Villa are messing us around by changing their stance on the fee since they got new owners, we just don't know.

The point is that we may be looking at a JG alternative because the deal is proving difficult to do. That said I personally still fully expect us to sign him.

It's business

It's all very well saying that, but I'd suggest the management of individuals (and by extension the squad) is a vital part of what we do.

From what we can tell (admittedly we don't know this for sure) a number of conversations have taken place and commitments have been made by us and the player about a move, and he's sold on it.

However you look at it, this would constitute 'messing him around' IMO, and I don't think that sort of reputation is a particularly good one for the club to have. We already have 'bad cop' Levy at the helm who people don't like dealing with, to add a bad reputation by the manager as well would do us no good whatsoever.

Doesn’t make a lot of sense considering Grealish is a HG squad player with potential to be first team. Who else could fill that gap?

Was Grealish an option due to his “homegrown” status ? I believe that may have been ITK ?

of course Grealish is no longer no 1 choice

He only became a choice when Levy thought he had Villa over a barrel and could give Poch a player on the cheap - now that is no longer the case and if being asked to pay the correct price makes sense he is backing off! That’s just how Levy rolls. But low sell high

Maybe as trix said the other day we had interest in Lewis cook maybe we have had encouragement from Bournemouth and they have just signed a midfielder

Think I must be the only one not too pleased about the latest ITK if people are interpreting it correctly.

I want us to sign Grealish as I thought it would be a "bonus" type signing of a skilful type of player we are lacking in the squad and someone who could maybe make any absences of Eriksen a little less problematic. Expected another midfielder in addition anyway when Dembele leaves (was under the impression it was still when as opposed to if).

And I'd also rather sign Zaha and keep Toby than exchange Toby for Martial (even though Marital would be a very good signing).

I hate the transfer window,

I hope you don't run your own business mate. Using "buy low, sell high" as a negative is quite a new one :ROFLMAO:

Yeah I was seeing Grealish as a signing for the future, not quite ready to step into the first team. But perhaps I was wrong on that.

Well this latest ITK could fit in rather nicely with Herc's ITK posted on Tuesday stating that... If Grealish is not announced tomorrow, Daniel has a decision to make, which will wrankle him.

Could mean we had a deadline set for us to firm up on a player other than Grealish.

Add to this the fireworks ITK from last night...could it really be that Daniel has finally took the plunge and we are finally attempting to go balls deep with signings?.

The ITK of late seems to all fit nicely together.

Can see this all blowing up in our face. Guess it’s how we’ve gotta do business but it’s little stunts like this how we end up pissing people off. Like the whole zaha incident. Is only good if it comes off which I’m hoping it does. Guess you can call it being brave after all lol

I’m actually more on board with the Grealish signing than the Zaha one. He’s potentially the perfect Eriksen understudy at a good price. Zaha would be a good option, but he would be very expensive, is not a young player, and wouldn’t necessarily be a guaranteed starter.
