I still believe that Blanc is the man...France display yesterday could be due to the rumour of Blanc and THFC. They did not want to play Spain! Something is going on within the camp (ITK)

Once again, I knew some top people at CFC, they have said AVB was a first class disaster.
He was very arrogant, can be very childish and moans and groans.
The players did not get on with him.
British players will not appreciate him at all.
If we get him, I will be very surprised and we all have to brace ourselves for some moans and groans.

Until it has been confirmed that THFC has appointed AVB, I still hold hopes from my source that it's Blanc.
Others have said: Rafa Benitez but lets no go there...

Whatever and whoever the THFC boards finalize - it will either increase/decrease our influence, stature and position.
With the players we have, we should challenge top 3.
All the big clubs are strengthening, it will be more competitive next season.
It is probably a make or break for THFC (IMO).

The fact we talked to his agent and seemingly are now waiting till France exit on Saturday suggests that some encouragement was given from his agent about his interest in the position

I am a bit concerned about the 2nd half of season meltdown at Bordeaux in his last season there, bought back memories of Harry last season but if the manager was going to be AVB he would surely have been announced by now

Longer this drags on more likely it will be Blanc it seems

Edmonton over on COYS has said to me several times, and posted a couple of times, that Sherwood is not that highly rated by members of the board.

However, that was always in relation to the manager post.

DOF? I guess a different set of skills needed plus a scouting network, good contacts and the ability to work with the manager at the time. Does Sherwood have all that?

Ed defo knows his beans. I had a good prv msg with him re the harry business before they deleted my account on coys for calling harry a media whore.

We sang from the same hymn sheet re harry and his failings.

I still don't get the DoF thing. Just seems a messy way to run a club. Too easy to pass responsibility to 'the other guy' when things go wrong.

Still haven't seen it actually work in the Prem, I hope the rumours are false and Levy really isn't desperate to try it again.

Perhaps i'm readinf too much into things, but am I the only one doubting wether we are getting AVB? Yes I know all of the ITKS are coming out and saying that we are, Even Paul Smith has said so, and he doesn't just say any old thing for the sake of it.

But reading through the ITK thread this mornig from last night, there was that throwaway jokey comment from JJ, saying that he was in Fiji and Moyes and AVB were in his living room with a DOF. Now from previous posts, we know 2 of those aren't happening, and I doubt he is in Fiji, so was he trying to say that AVB is not happening aswell, by putting his name in that post?

As I say, I'm probably reading too much into stuff, and I certainly don't want to go against a wave of ITK, but is he that nailed on?
I think the Fiji bit is down to avb being on hols there?

The thing is, is this simply due to the nature of the guy or also age?

I know if someone in my office spouts off and he's my age, even if he i more senior I think "what a ****". But if someone senior who is older says it, you sit up and pay attention.

I am reserved on AVB myself and I too have heard similar stories coming out of Chelsea (through Chelsea friends only - so not ITK as such) and I think that's half the issue. We hear part truths, things they want to say or believe and that's what we go on.

AVB could well have been a disaster for Chelsea and not fitted in, but that doesn't mean that everything coming out of Chelsea FC regarding AVB is going to be accurate. People always say bad things when someone leaves because you put it into your own head that it must have been true otherwise why else would he go?

Virtually no one at CFC is going to come out and say... "feck me, he was a good manager, but it just didn't work out".

And if they actually thought that, they are even less likely to say it to anyone at Spurs!!! an you imagine their faces if he was a success here?!

As for Wilkins, pretty sure we are not bringing him in.

The Corluka deal sounds promising. I think the Euros have shown up his strengths and his weaknesses. His positioning is still dodgy and his mobility questionable, but still a good defender, but right to move on and I wish him well.

No ITK on the other "deadwood" because I just can't see us having anyone interested in these players other than maybe from newly promoted teams or lower divisions and then will the players go?! So think we are still going to be stuck with a few come the start of the season.

Corluka (if true) and Niko though have paid for Vertonghen (assuming that is still 100%), so that's a squad place gained, a better player and no or little outlay.

That's how you do business.

I can't see how anyone thinks it's not going to be AVB now. Everything is pointing in that direction bar confimation.

Regards dead wood, i'm more than hopeful that a new manager or coach might be able to evaluate the potential contributions players like Jenas, Bentley or Gio could make and maybe incorporate them into the squad. For too long Redknapp had a fixed view of who could do a job for him, a clean slate might actually enable us to get something (anything!) from our expensive flops.

After all, no one seems too keen to sign them!

To be fair, I first wrote that something like two years ago now ;) Even I can't remember who it was about now. Mind you, I can't remember the last time I had a slash, so that's nothing new.

David Dein at Arsenal is probably the best example.

Well I've now been through yesterday's ITK and some of the discussion around it and I'm more confused than ever. We are having a director of football, except he won't be a director of football, he'll be a technical director. Meanwhile everyone seems to have very detailed knowledge of the job spec for a technical director and how this links in with the role of manager.

Despite all of this though, it looks increasingly like AVB is going to be the manager. Would be good to see an appointment announced today so that we can begin to move forwards from this daft last month or so.

Morning folks!

I'm playing catch up a bit as I was offline most of yesterday but I see the managerial merry go round is still ongoing. One question for you all (and this is not in any way having a pop at an ITK), but I don't really remember seeing AtlantaYid's name in the past (or if I did it was a long time ago)....is he knew on the scene? Either way, does he know his onions???
