Thanks for the info Herc. Worrying, tbh.
New stadium, most expensive ticket prices in Europe, best manager we've had in decades. If Levy doesn't back Poch now, this summer, then you have to wonder if he'll stick around in the long term.

If Mauricio needs him to back him this time, I think he will. He's not an idiot, he knows how important Pochettino is to the future of our football club even if he can't see the magnitude of the job he's about to do for us yet

To Dare is To Do Dan my man, you don't win titles taking the safe route tickling your arse with a feather all the time.

Stump up this once, leave your negotiating warlock of a head at home, make Pochettino happy you finally got his dream target and watch what he can do at your football club when given all the tools he's asked for and deserved over the years. It might just bring a tear to your eye knowing you played a huge part in it happening

Thanks as always Hercules
Looking back, most of the original optimism stemmed from before/around the time Poch signed a new contract. You start to feel like Poch got played by Levy. Really hope I'm wrong, we'll find out over the next couple of weeks.

If there's one time he shouldn't because it keeps the man taking us to the next level and beyond happy, it's this time.

Levy will hate it, but knowing when to be flexible and when is right/ wrong to act accordingly and fast is as important a quality in a chairman than negotiation skills. If all of this is true, I guess we'll finally see how big Daniels ego is when it comes to what's right for the club and what floats his proverbial boat in the board room

You know what I hate the most, during the seasons we kept finishing 5th on the last day and they show a shot of fucking Levy looking sad and he still doesn't catch on, that the value of finishing 4th far outweighed the pennies saved from doing deals later and not fucking those first 3 games or when we lacked that 1 more player because we couldn't get it over the line on deadline day. Same shot every fucking year.

Well, we have history

I guess I meant going in strongly to start with, perhaps we have, perhaps Poch was more interested in a deal for Martial but it's just frustrating that we rarely have a scenario where we target a player go in really strong, early and then complete the deal within a few weeks of the window opening. I understand that this is mostly down to what we can do but at some stage we really do have to push on and force it.

Thanks for the info, appreciate it!
I honestly think if a player or club were quick to agree a deal Levy would think that was too easy & try to ‘move the goal posts’ and attempt to squeeze the deal some more.

If Levy dares to play out that kind of shit this year then he's going to have a very big problem on his hands next year.

He might not be an idiot (that's why we are one of the most stable clubs around) but he does have a habit of reverting to his instinct and not overpaying.

As far as I'm concerned if he can pay 30m for Sissoko then he can stretch out for Zaha. He's good at balancing things so I'm sure he'll figure it out.

Anyway, let's see if something comes to fruition on Mon-Wed. I'm guessing this is regarding the CM too.

Have we ever had a transfer strategy and implemented it?

What have we been doing behind the scenes for last 4/5 months?

How about the club, Levy\Lewis grow some balls and actually pay going rate for top players. Embarrassing how we operate.

Feel like someone needs to slap Levy on his bald head and explain to him that that constantly buying cheap alternatives isn't in the best interests of the club. For the combined fee and wages we waste on these hit-and-hope nobodies we could get in at least one player Poch actually wants. Why can't he understand that stumping up for someone who could be a first team option for 5+ years is better than spending £10-20mil every window on players who have minimal chance of making a serious impact. Case in point going cheap for GKN and then panic buying Sissoko when the combined fee and wages could've got us Mane. Or getting Fazio and Stambouli when Poch wanted Schneiderlin and Musacchio. Just give the man what he wants and we won't have to go through this bollocks every window. Beyond frustrating.

Levy broke form before to back Poch with Sissoko, let's hope he does so here. (Just hope the quality of Sissoko hasn't put him off!)

If Palace are actually willing to take some of our outcasts even better. Teams are hardly banging our doors down for them so most would probably be loaned at best anyway.

This!
I posted something on the same lines earlier...appears Levy said all the right things to get Poch to sign that contract!

The windows not closed yet my man, maybe the old bastards learned a thing or two down the years. As I said before who knows what's going on behind the scenes

PS, would still prefer it if it was Martial though

Players won’t come cos they want CL.
Players won’t come as our facilities aren’t good enough.
Players won’t come as they want to challenge for trophies.
Players won’t come cos they can go play in bigger stadiums.
Players won’t come cos we don’t pay the wages.

Hmm... We’ve ticked all those off that we’ve been told over the years, so with the new ITK, why are we still not able to sign the players we want?

I am a passionate fan, which exceeds 50 years, and I have seen a lot first hand. You can put it on a biscuit tin Poch was given assurances, to which I won’t recycle, as we know what they were.

I understand the comments about not paying what we deem OTT in players like Zaha. I stated that our kitty is what it is, but inflation is seen nowhere like our sport. Now if Palace want 65m for him, and 1 or 2 players are thrown in, with us paying say 40m, then pay the farking thing on instalments agreed. And that is how Parish operates.

We have been farting around too long. Announcement/s Monday-Wednesday still stands. I wait with baited breath. Yes! I was optimistic earlier, but less so now. I am not going to bs anybody. You deserve to know the truth.

Hopefully this leaks, and club gets wind, and up there game. And anyone who believes that a certain person is ‘belly happy’, you are then deluded. Many things I would love to say but can’t.

Thanks for the update Herc, disappointing as it is to hear it. Lets hope it does all come right.

I don’t think our season depends on signing Zaha or Martial. If I was Levy I wouldn’t be paying over the odds for Zaha, either.

I’m mainly disappointed that it seems every other top 6 club identified their targets early and got the deals done. We are the exception.

I’m not going to panic because we do have a good squad right now. If we sell Toby and fail to sign at least two exciting players (I.e. Sanchez level) and actually downgrade the squad as a whole this summer, that is when I call it as being a historically disastrous window.

Even if he does, it's all still last minute stuff. There's a chance then that something could happen out of Levy's control and he ends up with no one.

The concern is if Palace say something ridiculous along the lines of "40m + Son", we're not taking your cast-offs. Then we have a problem.

The info on announcements next week really sounds like contracts. Which were probably agreed months ago, but for PR reasons waited until now. I know its not over yet and we have time, but really hard to not worry how this season will unfold. Especially being a statement year with the new stadium.

Has this ever happened in his life with any purchase? Guy would haggle for a pack of wrigglies
Yes, Lamella.
Sounds like Hercules is fighting (as a fan) to keep his enthusiasm, fair to say we feel his pain fingers crossed the club can ease his pain and if he, and now us, know that Poch isn't full of the joys of spring then so does Levy.
When itk said Martial was off the menu I posted that I thought we had finally walked away, if I was right then I have to believe that we decided to concentrate on the alternative, I am going to remain positive and pin my hopes on us being determined to get Zaha, despite what some people think I don't know that we have better at the moment, and Breezer has given me hope.

Oh well, we will live to regret it when Poch leaves and we scramble around for a second rate manager and drop back into Europa League footie! Levy needs to play this very carefully.
