I too think its rabiot. And what a player he would be for us

If it is him I hope he is as good as they say however if he is that good why are PSG willing to sell him, even more so now Cabaye has gone. The worrying thing for me is they are signing Stambouli as Cabaye's 'replacement' which surely puts him higher in the pecking order above a player that's supposedly going to better what we already have.

Trix's latest post re outgoings is good. As far as incomings are concerned it sounds very much like the usual summer window. I'll be pleasantly surprised if we get anyone new in for the Man U game. It's more likely going to be us penny pinching into the last weeks, leaving the manager with one hand tied behind his back in August as per usual.

Although the Goat's info this morning is quite positive re incomings!

I think it's not unreasonable to assume at this point that we won't see any other new signings in place and ready to start for the United game which is frustrating.

But I think much of that is because we've been focusing on the top targets (Schneiderlin etc.) and we now need to move to the next level.

I think the money we've accepted for the outgoing players shows that 'penny-pinching' isn't going to be as much of an issue this window.

I was hoping the goat said at least 2 deals, as we would need a dm and forward if both go IMO, not just replacing one of them.

Stambouli seems to be on his way with quotes from Blanc on other outlets. Ade knows that his bridges re burned and if we can remove a significant proportion of his wages then all well and good. Shame as when he signed permanently I was convinced he'd grow up and leave his past behind. He was awesome in bursts. Hope Villa don't get cold feet.

Technically the first team we were putting out last year has only been improved and we are losing fringe/backup players at a faster rate than I recall ever before.

I wonder about Poch and Levy's meeting. They must have had a list of targets, I wonder if we are having to have a reassessment?

Doesn't sound like JJ was dismissing anything, just passing on advice that if you don't like reading something, stop reading it!

Bit indifferent on Moses, not sure if he could become very good or if he's just a match of the day, highlights player that we would ultimately be disappointed with. No problem sounding his people out but Chelsea won't sell him to us at a reasonable price.

Good news on the outgoings, and to be honest that's the biggest thing this window, I'd take another season of Poch honing his squad, testing youth players, and identifying the two or three players that are truly going to make a difference to us. Getting rid of the deadwood is paramount to all that happening

If we are selling lennon and townsend to raise cash for our primary targets and moses is squad cover, i could live with it. If we get our primary targets.

Agreed.

I suspect that Moses is only being considered as squad cover at best, and is possibly just one of the many people we've inquired about this summer.

Before people slip their heads through nooses and get someone to kick away the rickety stool they are perched on, take a few deep breaths or something.

We've probably spoken to hundreds of agents and representatives over the last few years and nothing has come of it. You ask a question and then move on, to revisit if required, its maybe an option, its maybe not. If other things/preferred options don't come off people would moan if we hadn't at least lined up something else. All we know is that we've spoken to his people, that doesn't mean its nailed on we'll sign him. If you're that way inclined, at least wait until its on the official site before ending it all.

You bunch of drama queens :D

Yes agree to all that, but we're spurs. We always let the wrong one in.

Still think the player on his way to us will be Rabiot. Seems too coincidental that a player will come in dependent on Stambouli leaving.

You think so? I think it would be a CF (Maybe Saido) on the premise that if something were to happen to Kane (touch wood), we will not have ample cover, but we have Bentaleb, Mason, Alli (even Dembele) to cover CM. Also have TA, Veljkovic or Winks to cover CM. So priority to me for incoming is a CF.

It's alright lads, calm down. It's not like our rivals have only gone about spending their money quickly on exciting players and we have missed out on (reported) targets again and again like we have in the past...

I've still got faith however, although I'm not looking forward to the first game of the season in fairness. I'm excited that we've seemingly decided to integrate lots of youth this season but worried there aren't enough leaders in there with experience of top level football. Say what you like about the exuberance of youth, we need a Parker/Davids/Gallas figure in the team. Not to mention desperately another striker.

I just hope we don't wait too long and end up with a wheelbarrow chasing around Spain again. Forgetting the fact we could be lagging behind already

Jasper on SO - with an explanation of how things work

Please understand that as desperate as we are to get ALL deals done well before KO, it is just not that simple. We have to wait for selling club/s to line up their replacements as well as other contractual issues the player wants resolved with their present club. For instance a certain transfer was concluded last week. The player wanted to go to a London club, and his reps had discussions regardless of what the manager may admit. Many were saying to me he was bound to sign for that club. I told them he would end up at the particular club for obvious reasons. As much as they thought they (London club) could get him it was not going to happen.

I was with another player's agent who believed his player would sign for us and was convinced it would happen. That player who he manages signed for another club, of which I cannot blame him. You just never know and why difficult to call. A certain chairman is in deep discussions with DL who he gets along with, and hopes are high more his end. Only problem is the players in question is not our Plan B or C. Possibly Plan D.
