Thread Number Two. Happy Days! and I'm Paulo. Which makes Rob Potsie :D

Last weekend I said to the barman at our local, "I got terrible problems....My wife cut me back to sex just twice a week."

He said,"What you worried about, I know 3 blokes she's cut off altogether!"

I would’ve assumed Rob & Vics were Mr & Mrs Cunningham especially as you live in their garage (have you told them yet?)

Just to clear a couple of bits up.from the last I heard Bales first choice is to stay at Madrid. No one at that point Madrid had spoken to his agent etc about loans or what they were willing to do financially to get him out.

Grealish wants to stay at Villa if they get promoted. If not he is leaving. There are other clubs interested though so it won't be straight forward if they start throwing money around. He has a release clause in his contract but if another party bids over it then the release clause price becomes that. It's all very complicated and I'm not going into more detail ATM than that.

Seems simple enough. His release clause is say £40m everton match it but we bid £45m, evertons bid will be turned down and ours will be accepted.

Simplistically put yes, but there are a lot of other variables involved. It was quite a complicated contract drawn up to suit both parties. Don't forget Grealish is a life long Villa fan as are pretty much all of his family.

Oh i don't expect to get him if villa are promoted. Villas new owners showed they want to keep hold of him last summer. I'd expect them to bend over backwards to keep him if promoted. Ffp would be a big issue if they don't though.

Why would any club bid over the release clause price?

I get the impression that we won't do any business until levy and Poch meet after the CL Final which could see other clubs moving ahead on such targets like Sess n Grealish

Be pretty stupid to lose out on a player just because you have a game coming up. If there is business to be done i am sure they will do it irrelevant of the time frame. They could agree the deal and announce it after the game.

We had our chance to get Grealish and we decided to haggle and play games. It is our own fault if he ends up somewhere else.

When do we ever buy players early? What happens is a load of names get thrown around and we wait till pretty much deadline day to do any business.

But if we meet the release clause and he wants to go to us then I presume that release clause would do the trick?

I think Trix is saying it's much more complicated than that. It sounds as though if a club that meets the criteria matches the release clause, but another club - even one that doesn't meet the criteria - offers more, then the existing release clause rises to match the higher bid and the original club is therefore no longer meeting it.

Or something.
