Regarding Bale, though there is a thread. The only realistic chance of us sniffing, is he is offered as a ‘free’ and then it is possible. More too it than that but not for now.
The way Zidane and Perez talk about him in the media gives the impression that they'd quite happily let him leave for free just to get his wages off the bill. But I'm sure that's not an accurate representation and that they would at least demand "something".

Ordinarily, yes. But they can’t afford his wages. I suppose it’s like having a mortgage on a house you can no longer afford. You’re better getting rid and reinvesting elsewhere

What's abundantly clear is that we're not about to start paying €600k per week wages, which would destroy our pay structure. So if we hope to land Bale, then I would imagine we would have to pay a transfer or loan fee to RM that in turn would be paid as a loyalty bonus to Bale and his agent, which in effect is a golden handshake upfront payment to offset the big drop in wages he would then receive from Spurs. That's assuming Bale wants to come to Spurs, but in the meantime he's not just going to walk away from his mega-lucrative RM contract... he will want to know he's still going to get paid the contract balance one way or another.

Zidane/Real want Bale out. His wages are far too high to consider putting him in the reserves (around £100m still to pay him based on 3 years at £650k per week). No one seems to be queuing up to meet his wages let alone pay a transfer fee for him. I don't see how this ends up as anything other than a loan or free transfer, most likely with them covering some % of wages or releasing his image rights.

Real's one big hope is getting a part-ex deal on Hazard or Pogba, but I suspect most clubs would rather straight cash.

Surely Hazard's a no go, given Chelsea's transfer ban?

There's legal precedent that they could get the ban frozen for a window while they appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport. However they have still not lodged an appeal at this stage.

Transfer ban or not, if Hazard won't sign a new deal they either sell him for a load of money this summer or lose him on a free in a year. I can't see them passing up on £100m+ to keep him on.

Chelsea have lodged an appeal to CAS but they have not applied to suspend the ban while the case is still under investigation, which strikes me as a bit odd.

Can only assume they've been advised that they are likely to lose the case and actually feel better equipped to tackle the ban this summer with Pulisic already coming in, loaness returning and the option to re-sign Higuain and Kovacic reportedly on the table.

If true, the number of realistic options for Bale is ever-decreasing.

If Sarri is sacked neither Higuain or Kovacic will stay on, and bizarrely (3rd place, League Cup final and Europa final FFS) it seems to be happening. I know he's pissed off some Chelsea fans with infuriating personnel and tactical choices, Kovacic and Barkley over RLC being the main gripe, but could anyone really have expected Sarri to do better?

Anyway, this is the wrong fred for Chelsea talk, apart from stating that I'm confident Bale won't end up there.

I guess the closest we could get to a "free" is the the loan deal that has been mentioned previously, although that's arguably only worth doing if it's a 2 year loan like James Rodriguez did.

I'm no lawyer but if Bosman means you can't stop someone leaving because it's slavery, I'm sure you can only ban Chelsea from buying. If Hazard wants to go, and that would free up Bale, I can't see it being blocked (if he protested the point).

They can leave. They just can't play for anyone else as the club owns their registration. He could always get a job as a binman.
Please don't bring slavery into this they are vastly different.

Maybe I wasn't clear. I meant Hazard being part of bringing Bale to Chelsea. I'm glad the ITK hasn't ruled it out, but unless something astonishing is pulled off by Levy, I'd expect Gareth to rock up at Man United. Especially as his childhood hero was Giggs, iirc.

True, if Chelsea can't register Bale a p/x there obviously won't happen.

Suspect in a very simplified way, the whole 'only if he is free' thing is because we can supplement some of the shortfall/weekly wage with a generous signing on fee without breaking our wage structure. No way will we pay circa £10m a year loan fee and then big wages on top - something will need to give.

Loved him at Spurs but I fail to see how signing Bale would take us to the next level. Expensive, aging and extremely injury prone. These are the type of signings we should be avoiding. Sentimentality is not a reason why we should be buying players.
