I'm pretty sure we can afford to buy decent players. Problem with decent players, if they are to improve us, their wages are what will be the problem. We also have to convince top draw players to come to us instead of say, City or Chelsea. I was under the impression that once we got regular CL footy, that's what we needed to get the next level type player. Pfft.

Poch has said today that if the right player is available, we can be in for them. The trouble is finding the right player.
We don't want to buy for the sake of it, or for a short term fix, that will and up costing us in the long run.

Spurs are owned (85%) by ENIC.
ENIC are owned by Joe Lewis (via Tavistock group) and Daniel Levy, 70/30 respectively.
Tavistock group have a board which consists of several directors and board members. Every significant penny invested by Tavistock in any direction will be subject to a vote by that board.

It’s not as simple as uncle Joe giving us a cash injection. He doesn’t own us, a seoerate legal person called the Tavistock group effectively does (well they own ENIC), and just because he is the major shareholder, doesn’t mean he can say ‘give Spurs £150m’ without board approval, the board is there to act in the best interests of the company with the ultimate aim of growth, and Tavistock group has many investments to think about beyond Spurs. Think of it this way, the PM couldn’t force through her Brexit deal without parliament approval, the Tavistock board is basically our parliament.

Joe could just go all benefactor on us and give us £200m to spend, but after that had the shit taxed out of it we’d be left with half.

We don’t have a billionaire owner. We are part of an investment portfolio and every act we take is subject to intense internal scrutiny.
So...what’s the point you are trying to make??:cautious:

Does SSN not count as ITK regarding to one of the players shown around our facilities and Stadium in the summer?

In a word: No

In several words- don't post links to media sources in this thread - post them in player thread. And don't bother with a player who is not currently linked to Spurs.

Pretty much everyone who's responsible for the last 30 posts needs to have a change of panties to hand.

Here. Cut & Paste this for thread you're all going to be starting over the weekend.

I seem to have lost my access to the ITK forums. I haven't done anything wrong and I'm wondering why?
You might give some sort of warning, it's a bit harsh to just ban me for one post, wow, talk about the Third Reich.

Was listening to BBC5Live’s European football show on Thursday and Raphael Honigstein said that Spurs do have the appetite to make a ‘marquee’ signing, either this month or in the Summer. He said that he has spoken to various agents of big players, and Spurs have been making their interest known.

Big, big fan of this guy. Really knows his stuff and talks football logic. He was the f oneirst reporter to call Pulisic to the Chavs. Interesting to hear his comments regarding us and marquee signings. I'm sure Poch and his team of scouts want quality not quantity to puxsh our starting eleven. Thanks for sharing (anyone know where we could find a copy of the interview?)

Thirty two.

I know others have mentioned it in the past as well, and you've got reasons, but where can this sort of general discussion about our transfers and preferences go?

I think people wanted to keep the transfer chat in the Spurs Chat forum open because it's a place to talk about ideas and share interesting tid-bits about us specifically like Spursch did.

If it's either talk about a specific player or only today's ITK with no speculating allowed, you'll probably forever be banning people and having to moderate/close this thread because it doesn't seem that obvious where to put more general conversations like this.

Obviously it'll suck to get banned for this, and I've avoided contributing because even after 7 or so years I'm still a bit unsure where the lines are. However, it's something I wanted to say because surely it'll help keep this thread on track, save you guys a headache and tempt people to contribute more without worringing about access being restricted?

People have asked this very many times. And very many times the answer is you can post what you like in ANY of the player threads. Any of them. This is one modded differently because there are very many people only interested in reading or discussing the actual ITK as opposed to those who want to cut and paste their previously posted opinions on Daniel Levy, our transfer policy, home grown quotas and any other number of things that have been done to death elsewhere when the window isn't open.
