As much of a stretch as that is, I think you're closer to the mark than the Dier stuff.

:peeking:=Peeking, as in taking peek at the thread, doesn't validate any theory
Trix specifically defined his use of this icon as "there's something here to keep an eye on" in the Walker thread a couple of weeks ago though, and posted it shortly afterwards in the Dier thread too. The fact that Trix is using that icon means that there's something in this Dier stuff, IMO, even if it ultimately doesn't go through and he ends up staying.

We aren't selling Dier FFS. Trix just said a while back that there was something in United's interest. That's all.

Dier is 23 and is only going to improve. There is no way at all Poch would sell him.

Plus he's said numerous times how important Dier is to how we play. I actually think he'd be the last player to go.

Why you'd uproot your life, leave behind all your friends, go to a team currently worse than the one you're at and that plays boring, defensive football, leave a manager who's basically made your career and has loads of faith in you to go and play for a moany old prick (Mourinho), and leave one of the most promising young squads in Europe just for a pay rise from an amount of money you'd barely be able to spend as it is is beyond me

Can't just see Dier leaving. Doesn't seem like that type of guy.

Has anyone got the cryptic yet? Life of Brian is Monty python. Romeo and Juliet is Montague and Capulet. Could it be a player from Montpellier??

I agree with Dier's ability and flexibility being crucial to the way we can change our formation in the middle of a game, and that it would be a real shame if he left us. I also fully accept Rebrab's comment that he isn't going.

That said we do now have Winks who made a break through last season and Onomah played really well in the U20's final last week. Along with Dembele and Wanyama (who can also play at CB IIRC) that gives us quite a lot of strength in depth for the two in front of the back 3 / 4. The point being that I don't think there is any reason to worry unduly about outgoings. I trust in Poch and if anyone is allowed to go it will be because we either already have someone who can replace him, or because we have a replacement lined up from outside.

I find it difficult to believe Poch would sanction the sale of Dier.
He's publicly said we'll only sell players that we're happy to see go. Walker clearly dropped out of favour. Dier on the other hand remained a first choice pick. Also, given Stones fee last year, Dier's superior ability would see a fee not many clubs could reach.

Secondly, to sell Walker knowing we have Trippier, now also an England international, doesn't detract from the harmony too much, but to sell Dier would be a terrible precedent. We'd be ripe for the pickings from so called big clubs (ironically mostly who finished below us for two seasons running).

Going to place by blind hope on Rebrab's comment. I just can't see us letting any of our key players go, outside of Walker. Dier is key. We do not want to set ourselves back 3-4 years by being seen as a selling club. Critical we retain our best players to keep improving.

I think of our first XI players from last year, Dier and Walker are the two we can most afford to lose in terms of playing ability.

If we sold Dier (which we won't), we'd have to buy two players to replace him. Our budgetary constraints won't allow us to buy a player as good in both midfield and central defence as Dier already is, let alone will be in a few years time.

In terms of character, Dier is one of the last players we can afford to lose.

Selling Dier and Walker, two crucial members of a team that finished third and second over the last 2 seasons, would be a joke. Bordering negligence imo to strengthen two rivals like that.
