If Collingwood got an MBE for 17 runs in 2 innings what the hell is Ben Stokes going to receive? An Overseas Territory of his choice?

I apologise for you being over sensitive.

Can you just point out that it was a pathetic ball he bowled but, overall, he kept his nerve and saw the over out?

Surely that's how passionate fans work on the Internet? We scream abuse at someone for a fraction of a second, then declare our love for them for some minor achievement, like, say, WINNING THE WORLD CUP?

Various famous New Zealanders, your boys took (part in) a hell of a beating match!

So unlucky at the end of a great tournament, and commiserations, but we'll take it!

Bloody well played England. Best in the world, and deservedly so.

Now for the Ashes ...

Wow, this was like match thread x 1000. What a game. So lucky with the deflected throw boundary. But I suppose that cancels out the win of the toss. Most incredible game of cricket I've ever seen. Possibly the most incredible end of a sporting match I've ever seen. Hats off to NZ - if you weren't so good at rugby I'd almost feel sorry for you!

Stokes will be telling his kids and grand kids for years to come that he smashed two sixes in the final over to win England the World Cup.

Wrap Archer up in cotton wool, he could be all kinds of special.

Four years, and especially the last eighteen months in the making.

Congrats England, we actually did it.

Yes, choice to bowl around the wicket was poor as you cannot get it wrong in one day cricket (I’ve been a cricket fan for a good 20 years). An error = a wide, no ball or a boundary. 6 hit, again this was an awful ball... straight into the hitting zone and dispatched for 6. Against a world class batsman like Guptil you just can’t do this. Great bowlers get hit, especially pace bowlers but look at the control Henry, Boult and Ferguson played with... England really struggled to get anything off them.
Last 3 balls were much better, get it in the block hole and unless the batsman gets a huge piece of luck there’s no way it’s going for a boundary.

Like with football... a player misses a penalty, as fans you react... you don’t sit on your hands, keep a straight face and act like it was nothing. After 3 balls it looked game over, it was New Zealand’s to lose.

His bowing off the first 3 balls was poor, no one can say it wasn't. He did well off the rest but think you have gone a bit over the top with this.

"poor" is not the same as "pathetic".

"pathetic" does not win World Cups. That kid just did - and thanks but I'll celebrate him and excoriate pathetic "supporters" and not think its over the top - ever.

It's really that simple.

His dad won’t be impressed... must feel weird being born in New Zealand and beating them in the WC final lol. They’d mentioned earlier that his dad was routing for NZ.

You call Archer "pathetic" after 2 balls; he then wins you a World Cup. You don't apologise to him - but instead revel in the victory his coolness under pressure provided.

Yet you think I'm being over sensitive?

Have a word with yourself.
