Pleased to see Kohli
rejecting the new 100 balls format.

Almost enjoying the current tournament
because of some fine performances
its not quite cricket but nearish enough.

Sportsmanship a feature yesterday
even with such political and sporting rivals.

Hate England.
Cocky, laddish, and ugly cricket.

Looking like a great result for Bangladesh against the Windies.

Have to say, I was expecting a bit more from the W.Indies this tournament. They've been pretty poor in the main, today it appeared they just resigned themselves to the notion that they'd lose, although there was still plenty of cricket to be played, and they could've still turned it around with a couple of quick wickets.

They looked totally dejected and bereft of ideas. Certainly not the pumped up Windies of yesteryear.

It's weird that people are wasting breath and paper on this issue. Of course they're going to get booed.

Isn't that what cricket is about anyway? I would actually be a bit disappointed if one of our players cheated and weren't booed in Australia.
Even when our players haven't cheated they get loudly booed by the Australian fans on their grounds so I think it's a bit rich coming from Australians that they think we're unreasonable if these two are booed.

Well, that was an exciting innings. What a performance from Morgan, record breaking. Good little cameo from Moeen too.

Think its harsh to call England's cricket ugly. We've got some of the best, most exciting players in the game. I think Root is beautiful to watch and the likes of Morgan, Stokes, Buttler and Bairstow are superbly skilled. Moeen can be very elegant with the willow too.

Agree Root,
lovely player
and he's from Yorkshire.
Not excited by this format.
Too much bish bash bosh
'Timeless' Tests the way to go.

'The longest cricket test match in history(1939) The game was played between South Africa and England in Durban. The game continued until the 14 March - 9 days in total. England needed 41 runs to win at the close of the 9th day, but the match was drawn because the English players had to leave to catch their boat back to England.'

My kind of cricket.
You could read a couple of books and sleep a whole day and not miss anything.

Yeah, it's almost a different game. I do love the short games but you're right, a good test match is something special. Love listening to Test Match Special in the early hours. Most chilled.

I like 50 over cricket. Not as much as Test matches but it's a valid form of the game. I don't like the 20 over format though which to me is cricket for people who don't like cricket.

It brings kids in to the game though. Both my boys have enjoyed T20 games and both have played for their local club since they were six. They're 11 and 12 now and play at least one 20 over game a week. They wouldn't be able to play a longer format.

I do worry for Test cricket though in the next fifteen years.
Yes, tug matches and ODI’s are entertaining but that’s only because the bowlers are on a hiding to nothing.
When kids at grass roots see sides putting on the best part of 400 runs in half a day I do wonder whether there will be the motivation to play the longest and most ‘testing’ form of the game.

I was going to say after watching the first 10/11 sixes was why do they keep bowling at or outside the leg stump..... then the last 6 were bowled that line and were despatched as well.
Well played Morgan proper captain's innings ….. hope he hasn't used them all up:cautious:

Can't remember the last time Williamson didn't make a decent score, in any form of cricket. If he ain't the best batsman around at the moment, he's gotta be close. Fantastic player.
Was hoping for a SA win against NZ, just to spice the table up a bit. But was a good game.

From an English point of view the only team I fear is India and I think it’s important to avoid them in the semifinals especially at a turning pitch at old Trafford. The only way this could happen is if England/ India finish in 1 and 4 positions which I think is unlikely.
My guess England vs Australia and India New Zealand semis with England beating India in the final ?
