What is Haseeb Hameed up to these days? He looked fantastic for us before he broke his finger. I seem to remember him having a load of grit. I’m sure last year for Lancashire he scored a century off of 200+ balls.

Being absolutely shite unfortunately. Like imagine Jennings shite, then cover that shite in a layer of shite.

Unfortunately he seems to have completely fallen apart since his test debut.
Did read something about him trying to change his technique as wanted to get more involved in 20/20 cricket. Which the way he was playing wouldn’t have worked.
Hope he has gone away this winter and has worked on his technique and go back to the way he was playing when he made his England debut.

Bloody Hell! England batted the day out, 231 for 4.:woot:
Fair play to Buttler and Stokes, had a bit of luck , but the first England ton partnership of the series.

Bets on being skittled for under 250? Nothing on it so they’ll probably go and hit 600 now...
Regarding the huge elephant in the room though Jennings done okay in Sri Lanka so maybe we need to look at opening partnerships to suit overseas conditions?
Would love to say Roy and Hales but I just don’t think they’ll have the temperament or inclination when they are performing how they are with the white ball.
Major problem which hasn’t got any easier since Strauss left which is quite frankly pathetic.

Saw that Alastair Cook said it’s unlikely, but he could never rule out making a come back to the England side.

With the way the ridiculous County championship schedule looks this “summer” I would not be shocked in the slightest if Cook scores a shit load for Essex and finds himself opening on day 1 of the first Ashes test.

If it's a case of Jennings or Cook, i think that's a pretty easy decision.

If they were to pick him i don't see him turning it down.

The way i see it is, if our test players are going to play white ball cricket over 5 (ha, more like 3.4) days then we may as well pick the best white ball cricketers for the test side ;)

The pure red ball batsman seems to be a dying breed now, so if we don't have any good ones just cut our losses on trying to find batsmen for the hard slog and get ones for the sweep slog instead.

That's more like the modern England test team we all know and love. I've not seen the wickets, so we may have been blown away by bowling like Ambrose and Walsh. But starting the day 231-4, and only making 277, just ain't good enough.

Bairstow needs a good talking though, drop down the order to 7 so he can put the gloves on and gets 2 ffs and bowled the exact same way as always, what a plank. Ali rollercoaster back in action too, does he know what consistent means? that was such a poor way to get out, I don't really know what he can be doing in practice sessions

Wood bowling seriously fast here and causing them big problems.
Maybe we should have picked him in the first test in these conditions

Jennings bingo fellas. When do you think he’ll be out caught behind?

I reckon he’ll go for 4 within the first 5 overs.
