I am not here to condone or justify what happened , but just relay the truth of what happened.
The guy who threw the banana skin is someone i know of but my best pal was there.
He is a 50 odd cypriot fella who was at the game with my best pal, they were sat next to a man with his very young son who ate the banana before KO and threw the skin on the floor. When the scum scored they came over and were goading our fans, the main culprit was Bellerin, our fans went mental and got out of hand , this guy picked up the skin off the floor and chucked it at Bellerin. He didn't plan it or bring the banana into the ground, it was there and when the red mist took over ,he just picked up anything to throw at them and unfortunately it was the skin..
The police believe him that this was NOT a racist act and have charged him with throwing a missile NOT racist act.
The fella called the club and they also believe him, but they said he will be banned untill the outcome of the courts.
HE WAS STUPID AND OUT OF ORDER, but do not believe whats being reported...THIS WAS NOT RACIST ACT.

I am not saying he shouldn't be punished or banned, but i wanted the truth to be told that it wasn't a racist act by our fan.

I can believe it - struck me as strange that someone would bring a banana and be able target Aubameyang, a racist action like this is so unusual in today’s English premier league game that another odd explanation is possible. Not saying he’s exonerated either, just I’m open minded and the press should think about it before going with the racist rhetoric

And why would he eat the banana if his intention was to throw it at anyone, it wasn't his like i explained

That's fair enough, but throwing anything at the players is a nailed on ban(and rightly so).

Dier got a yellow for inciting the crowd and the scum got sweet fa for far worse

Where is Dier supposed to celebrate scoring a goal down that end surrounded by scum supporters?

Bellerin, Aubameyang were much worse, lucky it was only a banana! Darts in the old days

That being the case why did the media assume it was aimed at Obameyang? Not doubting your explanation, it didn't look right when I first saw it, it just didn't resemble the old days throwing of bananas, I am asking a genuine question, the media announced it as a racist act throwing a banana skin at a black player without any thoughts of whether that was a fact or not, not even an alledgedly.
Lesson to be learnt from this, don't let your kids have a banana at the match, take a tangerine.:)

I think this is it. I did consider that the banana had been eaten, so presumably wasn't brought specifically for throwing, as well as there being an alternative explanation - But throwing anything at the players is wrong and you should be banned as a result.

Plus the fact it is a banana, given the historical context, it's understandable the press would reach a different conclusion though. Anyway despicable/stupid act, gets fan a lifetime ban. Case closed.

Despicable, really??

In the heat of the moment against your greatest rivals and one of the scum players is a few yards away taunting you just after they have scored!

I dont really agree. I dont think fans can start chucking shit at players... i also dont care if players taunt fans... fucking hell... as fans we insult and say all sorts about players so i dont care if a player returns the favour - if you can dish it out you can certainly take it. DONT CHUCK SHIT.

The thing that bought this into prominence is that it was a banana skin and whether the guy threw the nearest thing to him which just so happened to be a banana, im not here to suggest to suggest I know - I dont know.

Im not sure how not much has been made of it but their ****ish fans also chucked stuff at our players... they were being taunted by Dier et al - no one has said anything

I should have put a caveat in there: if it had a racial angle, then yes, despicable. If it was just stupid, well then that's all it is. Still throwing shit at people should probably get you banned in the context of watching live sport or most other things.

Fucking hell what a tit.

I imagine the Curb Your Enthusiasm music playing after he realised what he had thrown onto the pitch.

When i read the OP, that's exactly what i was thinking. That moment of rage becomes a moment of shit yourself anxiety at what you've done.

Whilst I don’t personally subscribe to the concept that one mistake should lead to a lifetime banning order, he’s been an absolute fucking idiot and I’ll save my sympathy to all those fans there who’s faces have been plastered all over the media with the banana in their vicinity and have no doubt had to spend the last 24 hours explaining to friends, family, colleagues and bosses that it wasn’t them and/or that they are not racists.

Who the fuck eats bananas at football games anyway? His son deserves a stadium ban for not sneaking in a simple tinny

Never underestimate the dangers of low potassium levels.

Very good point, but there’s a time and a place. I’m not going to get overloaded on starchy bananas when I’m about to be out the ground lamping gooners - just not what it’s about.

Lifetime ban does seem strong, as I’ve no doubt he didn’t mean it in a racist way. Just an idiot tbf to the idiot
