The 1882 movement is an initiative set up by some Spurs fans on The Fighting Cock forum, we believe it's a great cause and are fully behind it. The guys on The Fighting Cock have agreed that we can promote it on here and this is where you'll find info on it on SC. Here is what they say about 1882...

The aim of the 1882 movement is to support our team and the shirt they play in. To sing as loud and as long as our lungs will let us. We want to hark back to the days before the Premier League, when how loud you sing and how passionate you became wasn't dependant on how well Tottenham were playing
We don't claim to be better than other supporters and we're not trying to segregate our fans. We simply want to make noise and get behind the team, which hopefully creates a more enjoyable match-day experience.
The second post in this thread will be kept up to date with the most recent news from 1882 but you can also check the 1882 page, follow @LoveTheShirt, #1882THFC on Twitter and the Facebook page.

Thanks to The Fighting Cock for letting us help promote this.

Spurs vs Coventry FA CUP

Tickets go on sale for this game this morning and 1882 will be sitting in block 30.

I think the original plan was to only really do youth games, but the demand was there for a first team game, so Maribor happened. I know the guys are trying to work closely with the club, so we'll see where things go.

Great stuff and badly needed. Glad to see the club seeing the significance as well.

I love this idea. It's brilliant. Full credit to the FC guys and to SC for promoting it. I really hope the club supports it and gives them dedicated tickets for home games.

Intersting bage I have to say. Would love to know their theory behind all the various items on there (except for the 1882 of course!).

Yep. A block of tickets is needed. That block can then get the chants going. Even basic chants seem very rare these days. "We're the Park Lane/ We're the Shelfside" was a regular in my ST days. The highlight of the game most weeks in fact. *shudder*

Definitely harder to organise because of ticket availability. Hopefully the club will consider this going forward, it's early days yet though.

This is a really positive move. Thanks SC.

Perhaps the club can instruct the stewards to only pick on fans if they are not singing ;)

it's a great idea

my ST is in block 9 of the West Lower, so fairly near the the away fans. I wish our section would sing more as we have to listen to the away fans too much!!

It will be hard to organise for PL games but its worth a try

Sad that a specific campaign is needed to persuade our supporters to back the team and not just be passive consumers. Time was when White Hart Lane was like that every week. Still, good on you lads.

It's never been like that every week, at least not in the 18 years I've been going, but agreed it's getting worse.

I find it the same in all walks of life, really. It's the same at music festivals, which I also go to a lot of. Over the past 10/15 years, you've gone from people really engaging in the event, joining in with everything and creating a great atmosphere, to passive middle-class consumers walking round in their pack-a-macs waiting to be entertained.
