For all of stresses about our injuries, depth and lack of signing, at least take some solace in how Chelsea are racing the clock to get a striker who is past his best on loan in time for our match tomorrow, and will be spending an extortionate amount to do so because they’ve had to pay an amount that makes cancelling another loan contract worthwhile.

We’re in a spot of bother, they are just plain desperate.

Think they’ve lost that race haven’t they? He had to be registered by midday today.

Chelsea fans on twitter saying he had his medical earlier and they'll announce that he registered at Sarri's press conference. High possibility of twitter bullshit tho.

Depressing but I agree entirely. The Milk Cup is pointless. Even if we get past Chelsea we're simply not beating City, sorry but it's a scientifically proven fact. Too 4 is imperative. Damage limitation until team is back full strength. End of. Having said that I hope we smash Chelsea, Llorente hat trick. COYS.

yes but a day out at Wembley we haven't been ……………. oh wait we have, and no 1 likes:whistle:

if we progress we will then have all those ST holders that can't be arsed "because it's Wembley" moaning they can't get a ticket for the Final

If it is a draw, do away goals count and is extra time played?

For the first time since 1980, the away goals rule will NOT apply in the League Cup semi-finals.

In addition, ties will now go straight to penalties if the scores remain level after two legs.

Regulation 14.5 of the tournament states: “In the Semi-Final ties, if the aggregate score is level at the end of the second game no extra time shall be played and the tie shall be decided by the taking of kicks from the penalty mark in accordance with procedures as approved by IFAB.”
so i can see it now, we lose 2-1 on the night. That would mean 2-2 on agg but we would have an away goal which will now mean nowt. go to pens and lose. That would pretty much sum up our luck

Gazzaniga
Sanchez--Toby--Verts
Trippier--Dier--Winks--Rose
Eriksen--Lamela
Llorente

Don't think we've got much else to choose from other than giving GKN or Sterling a run out

Nice lineup. exactly what we should be going for

Could be the first game without a single striker on the pitch. Is higuin allowed to play if he signs by Wednesday?

When did the rules change that you can add new players to the squad after the first leg?

I seem to remember us not being allowed to do that a few years ago. I could be wrong of course!

Re: Higuain - I had a look at the Carabao Cup Regulations and what it boils down to is that if a player would be deemed eligible to play in a League match at the same time and the same day as the Cup match, he is eligible to play. So if Higuain were eligible to play for Chelsea in a hypothetical League match at 19:45 on Thursday 24th January, then he is eligible to play in the second leg of the semi-final.

Play N'Koudou and the Kids (sounds like a 90's alt-rock band).
It sounds like a 90s American sitcom:

"Coming this fall... He's a French soccer player... They're high school students who love to dance... When they come together, it adds up to maaaaaaaayheeeeem! N'Koudou & the Kids, Thursday at 9 on NBC"

Just got a ticket for this, absolutely buzzing.

It's also my birthday.
You share a birthday with my Mum. Thankfully, she understands that football comes first, so we're taking her out to dinner on Saturday instead. Oh, happy birthday for tomorrow, btw.

I think, due to us being somewhat unsettled, they'll set out to be physical, rattle us as much as possible and pump up the crowd in a stadium with an almost certain hostile (nasty) (shitty, scummy, bastardy, racist) atmosphere.

Another Battle at The Bridge. Wonder if Dier will play.
FYP

Why bother with 2 legs then? :shifty:
Fairness. I know, I know, it's fairer if the team who scores more away goals should go through, but it's the reason for the two legs. It doesn't account for the vagaries of what passes through the minds of the powers-that-be.

Single game on neutral ground is just as fair and is one game less where we can pick up injuries to key players. :lurking:

I just hope it's too soon for Higuain to be ready to play. Sarri knows him, Higuain is used to Sarri's formation. Impressive last season in Naples

Oh, absolutely. The two-leg thing is just ridiculous nowadays with the number of games a club has to play.
