not up with the rules on this comp, but do away goals count? I know years ago away goals counted after extra time, but extra time doesn't exist anymore

In Semi-Finals and Finals extra-time is played. In the event of teams being tied on goals, away goals rule comes into force at the end of extra-time.

If it is a draw, do away goals count and is extra time played?

For the first time since 1980, the away goals rule will NOT apply in the League Cup semi-finals.

In addition, ties will now go straight to penalties if the scores remain level after two legs.

Regulation 14.5 of the tournament states: “In the Semi-Final ties, if the aggregate score is level at the end of the second game no extra time shall be played and the tie shall be decided by the taking of kicks from the penalty mark in accordance with procedures as approved by IFAB.”

Chelsea will if Higuain is announced before Wednesday
Higuain is no better than Morata. Those twats at Chelsea are just throwing money around. He will get knocked about in the prem, hardly a target man for the way their manager sets up. Fucking hate Chelsea. Why don’t they just fuck off? They ain’t winning the prem again with city buying it. Romans heart isn’t in it anymore as his wallet shows.

Who the hell is fit these days? Nobody knows. That said, under these conditions, I guess I'd go with:

Gazza
Toby - Sanchez - Vert
Aurier - Dier - Winks - Davies
Eriksen - Lucas
Llorente

I think if we give Nando a run out immediately it will only boost his confidence. He can't have as bad a game as last time (can he???). COYS!!!!

I'm expecting the pattern of the game to be that Chelsea have the majority of the ball. We're going to have be mobile, and have a threat on the counter. Even before his struggles at the weekend, I didn't think this would be a game for Llorente for instance.

All depends on if we get anyone else back fit, but I'd probably look to go with something like:

Gazza
Whoever Toby Jan Rose
Winks Dier Eriksen
Sissoko Lamela Moura

Subs: Lloris, Sanchez, RB, Davies, Skipp, Nkoudou, Llorente
If Sissoko/Moura don't make it, I'd (and I cant believe I'm saying this) quite possibly throw Nkoudou in who can fulfil a similar role.

If we do that, we will lose. We play best when we get on the front foot and control tempo

True but that doesn't stop managers picking players - look at Alsonso.

But has Aurier done something else as well?

We pick Lloris, he was done for drink driving just like Alonso and could have killed somebody. Fact he didn't is not really the point.

This Alonso stuff is pathetic and ridiculously hypocritical.

People will hate me for saying this but, given our dire situation with injuries, I'd be inclined to simply bin off the next two matches so that we can rest the remaining decent players we have, and recover a few of the walking wounded before Watford (10 days to recover).

We're not beating City in any cup final without our key players. It's so depressing to say that, but standing in the cold at Fulham yesterday watching us struggle to create a decent chance against a crap team really concerned me.

Then Alli went off injured, easily our biggest goal threat.

If we get another muscle injury in the Chelsea match or the FA Cup match at the weekend, we truly are screwed for the league and Champions League.

For our future, it's so important that we finish in the top 4 this season. If we get to a Carabao Cup final and an FA Cup Quarter Final it does absolutely nothing for the club, apart from just to put more strain on the most injury ravaged squad we've had in my time as a fan.

Of course, if the club had the intention to strengthen the squad I'd feel differently about this, but they clearly aren't going to do that.

Play N'Koudou and the Kids (sounds like a 90's alt-rock band).

Depressing but I agree entirely. The Milk Cup is pointless. Even if we get past Chelsea we're simply not beating City, sorry but it's a scientifically proven fact. Too 4 is imperative. Damage limitation until team is back full strength. End of. Having said that I hope we smash Chelsea, Llorente hat trick. COYS.

We know Chelsea have to score. That means they have to come out and play. Probably not the first half. I've a feeling the 2nd half is likely to be a siege. A wolves style defensive counter-attacking style would go down a treat. If we nick one on the break that will make it a frantic game as chelsea look to come back. So solid centre backs, rose and trippier on the flanks, 2 holding midfielders, 3 AM 1 llorente. Cross from flank alot , and cross fingers llorente gets on the end of it. So 4-2- 3-1. It doesnt have to be pretty football, just quick ball into the box before the chelsea defence get set.
Heres hoping we get a little bit of luck too. That always helps. Cheap pen, gift horse. Anything really that gets us over the line.

I accept how emotive this issue is, so wish to make clear that I in know way condone what Hugo did, but there is a tangible difference between Hugo and Alonso’s actions.

While ultimately Lloris got very lucky so the initial reprehensiblity of his actions is equal, a quick dig shows that Lloris was driving 15mph in a 30 with 80mg/100ml alcohol/ blood, Alonso was doing 70mph in a 30 with 91mg/100ml alcohol/ blood. Both are horrible mistakes, but saying they are the same is like saying firing a pistol once into a crowd is as bad as throwing a petrol bomb into a primary school classroom.

The initial mistake of getting behind the wheel is equal, but Alonso’s actions following that were dramatically more likely to kill someone and as such yes, he deserves greater ire and disdain than Hugo does, even before considering that he’s taken a life and destroyed a family while continuing to earn millions for doing the best job in the world and live in luxury.

Chelsea/Sarri play such a ball-dominant style of football. Whatever we attempt to, I'd be surprised if we're not tucked in behind the ball having to soak up spells of pressure throughout the game.

Why bother with 2 legs then? :shifty:

For all of stresses about our injuries, depth and lack of signing, at least take some solace in how Chelsea are racing the clock to get a striker who is past his best on loan in time for our match tomorrow, and will be spending an extortionate amount to do so because they’ve had to pay an amount that makes cancelling another loan contract worthwhile.

We’re in a spot of bother, they are just plain desperate.

The same Higuain that twatted us out of the CL last year??
The same Higuain who arguably had the best years of his career under Sarri?
Sarri will adjust Chelsea's style to play to his strengths. Hazard will move back out to a position where he is far more of a danger than he has been recently.
